The reason to stay at Cala Di Sole is its setting. Our room was a double standard, nothing really fancy, the furniture was pretty minimal, but the whole far wall was glass door overlooking our own private terrace with chairs and bench, and at the end of the terrace is a short wall separating you from the beautiful Mediterranean Sea. If you leave the door open you hear the water gently moving outside. There is also a private beach that is absolutely lovely, the water and the view of the Iles Sanguinaires is breathtaking. We visited in late April, a bit too chilly for swimming though I think I would have if I had been there mid-day. Instead, we swam in the outdoor pool which was covered so that it was plenty warm to swim. There weren't too many guests at that time of year, so the place was super quiet despite some kind of conference taking place there. Breakfast was a generous buffet with all that you would want to eat. The receptionist was friendly and helpful. I wish though that she had told us to ask for towels for the swimming pool. One disappointment: our queen bed was really two twin beds stuck together under one sheet, and instead of one big comforter, there were two single sized ones. How unromantic! There is lots to do in Ajaccio and the surroundings, I wish we had stayed there longer!

Room Tip: They all seem good.

Totally perfect location, it is half way between the center of ajaccio and the beautiful sanguinaires islands. the view is totally incredible, the pool is lovely, the beach beautiful. the water is so clean and beautiful. This is a family run hotel, simple, clean, the staff very friendly and helpful. they are family friendly, the breakfast is very good with delicious croissant and fresh orange juice. Great value for what you get. I cannot wait to go back!!

Cala di Sole has an amazing location on the Bay of Ajaccio which the rooms and other amenities take full advantage of. All rooms have views of the bay and it is a stunning view.
Parking is a real issue in Ajaccio so the provision of free parking was really useful. It is well situated to travel around the Ajaccio area. The hotel has a bus stop outside from which to travel into the city which departs hourly and costs 1 euro each way!
We occupied a Standard room on the 1st floor which was a good size and had a balcony overlooking the sea. The room also featured floor to ceiling windows which could be fully opened to effectively extend the room on to the balcony. The room had effective air conditioning, a large TV (but only with French channels) and free wi-fi. The fixtures and fittings in the room are a bit dated but there is plenty of storage, the bed is a decent size and comfortable and the room is well insulated so unless you want to open the window to hear the noise of the sea you do not hear anything from outside the room.
We did not have the normal breakfast (15 Euros) which was a buffet with the usual selection of food but opted for the Express Breakfast (7.5 Euros) which we took on the terrace to enjoy the fabulous views. This consisted of tea or coffee, juice and a selection of bread, jams and pastires which was enough for us.
The hotel has a great pool, access to a beach and a beach restaurant which hadn't opened for the season when we were staying there. The terrace bar area is a good space for drinks and relaxing and the drinks are reasonably priced.
There are a number of restaurants within a 5-10 minute walk which offer a wide range of food.
The service from the staff at the hotel is excellent, they are friendly and helpful and do everything to make your stay as pleasant as possible.
This is a good value 3 star hotel in an amazing location. It does lack some of the refinement and luxuries of a 4 star hotel but you are getting a comfortable hotel with great amenties with stunning views. I would recommend anyone thinking of visiting this area to stay here as you will have a wonderful time.

My partner and I stayed at the cala di sole hotel outside ajaccio in September of 2014 at the end of the Corsica tourist season. Unfortunately the hotel`s restaurant closed the day we arrived so we had to go off site for meals. There is a bus which runs Into ajaccio but it is infrequent and stops around 8 pm so going into town for dinner without a car was not possible. There were lovely seaside restaurants within a mile and we did walk to those for dinner. However, it would have been nice to at least have a snack bar in the hotel.

The room was comfortable and the view of the sea from the patio was tremendous. We enjoyed nightly cocktails as the sun went down. Staff was friendly and professional. Great atmosphere in the hotel.

My one bugaboo with hotels these days is the substitution of bars of soap and bottles of shampoo for an all purpose gel in a dispenser. So I would mark the hotel down for that.

Otherwise it is fabulous and I would recommend it. Perhaps more convenient with a rental car which we did not have.

Room Tip: Sea view is a must

Apparently, this is one of a very few hotels that is situated directly on the beach. Many other hotels on the island are located across the road from the beach.
This particular hotel is very cozy, super clean and every room has a spectacular view of the sea. We were on the ground floor with large terrace. Room was spacious, clean and even though quite simple, it was perfect for us since we only used it to sleep.
Everyone who works in the hotel was nice and very friendly.
Breakfast was very good.
Definitely recommend this place. It is affordable, very well maintained and with great service.
