We enjoyed one of our best meals in France at Nicola's L. The presentation, and freshness of ingredients along with their flavours was outstanding. Service was also excellent.

The only drawback of this restaurant is finding it. Once there, all is to enjoy: the setting (especially on the little terrace), the service, and the food. We took the day's menu and were delighted by the originality of the food, the care with which different products were matched, the level at which tastes were integrated, and the overall quality of cuisine. Well worth a visit. Oh, check out the waitress who is completely bilingual French/English!

Small, non-tourist restaurant outside the historic centre near the fire station and gendarmerie. Planted little terrace overlooking a rather uninteresting square. Small menu; two starters, 4 mains; 3 desserts. 2 small "verrine" type "amuse-bouche" offered which were lovely. All the food we had was excellent... Clearly local and fresh but not typically Perigourdine (the chef/owner is from the very North of France). Nice service. Nearly all the clientele were local. Very good quality/price relationship. Suggest booking. A very good address to hang on to!!!

I must admit to visiting this restaurant purely in response to a previous mediocre review. I am of the opinion that some people will find fault with anything either because they are negative or they think it makes them sound more interesting. The setting of the restaurant is little more than a 4 min walk from the cathedral and although not surrounded by the usual tourist bars and rigmarole it is pleasant enough. The first thing we noticed was the warm welcome and professionalism of the staff. Courteous and quite delightful they we always available when required but never felt intrusive. The food is simply exceptional. The fois gras was the best we had during our 2 week "eating" holiday in the Dordogne. The ris de veau wow factor was in its taste which is where it should be. If I needed sparklers sticking out of my food I would go to planet Hollywood or stay at the Ibis. My daughter had the enfant menu and was treated to what I can only describe as the tastiest burger any of the table had tasted. Presentation was superb and potions were generous. A similar meal where we live in London would easily be double the price. A special thanks to the head of the restaurant who gave some great tips on where to visits which really made our trip.
