Every day of our 5 day holiday we went here day and many nights as well. As the weather was very warm this Water Mirror cooled down everyone with the odd dog getting a good cool down too. It is big, sanitary, romantic and what it basically is is a mist fountain which people take pleasure in strolling through, and then water bubbles up to just under ankle level. Great for strolling through at any time of day barefoot. After a few minutes the water drains, the mist comes on again and the water bubbles up again, keeping everything fresh and clean. We even went down one day to find a dance group dancing in the water which was great for everyone to watch or join in!

We stumbled on this after eating an early dinner nearby - just as the sun was fading and the lights were starting to be switched on. We were across the road and saw the mist (the water mirror has a number of phases) it caught our interest so over we went. We got a number of interesting photos, with the mist and the mirrored surface. It was a warm night so there were a lot of children (young and old) playing in the water. I would love to go back during autumn when it would be less crowded.

The Bordeaux in summer is hot, hot, hot. When I visited the water mirror (reportedly the largest in the world), it was ankle deep and full of children and dogs. There was no mirror effect.

After a few minutes, it obviously started to drain and the water level dropped. When about empty, the mirror effect was obvious and impressive.

Shortly after, the fountains started and the pool refilled. I was reassured that while drained the water was filtered and cleaned before the pool was refilled.

The entire cycle takes about 15 minutes.

Even I took off my shoes and walked bare footed thought the cool waters to recover from wandering the city in 35 degree dry heat.

The pool was a nice reprieve from the heat and a recommended stop in summer.
