La Table de Pottoka
Ranked #3 of 323 Restaurants in Bayonne
Certificate of Excellence
Price range: US$23 - US$51

Great restaurant wonderful food at reasonable mid range price. Enjoyed the shared table- lots of space between. The swordfish, noix st Jacques, gravlax trout and chocolate dessert were all tasty and fresh. Cahors wine bit expensive at 29€ but good. We'll be back.

This is a contemporary and simply furnished restaurant. It is across the street from the river and has a few outside tables. Service is efficient and very friendly. The restaurant was completely full when we arrived at lunchtime, but they had saved the table we reserved so no wait. Everything we ordered was imaginative and delicious. Waitstaff told us that menu changes frequently, but the chocolate desert is always available. It is an absolute standout. Mouselike under layer with chocolate crunchy crumbles on top. Much much better than it looked or I am describing. I'm not a mousse fan because texture is usually boring, but this was taste-wise and texturally superb. Highly recommend this restaurant.

On route through France we spend an overnight in Bayonne and through Tripadvisor was guided to Pottoka. It was an excellent find....while we were luck to get a reservation the staff were excellent, friendly and spoke english. We really enjoy the experience.....good food, friend staff and centrally located. I would highly recommend it.

This was not last minute - when booking in person I noticed only 3 or 4 others on the list. No mention was made of 'vacating by' or '2 sittings'. The subtle pressure to order was obvious and the very quick procession of dishes left an experience of speed dining. The revelation upon leaving was a full bar plus a queue. Whilst the food was fine, the impression left was of profit not proper service. Other dining experiences in Bayonne, both previously & this visit much more pleasant.
