We stopped here on our way to Spain after reading the reviews. It was awkward to get to as it us surrounded by closed and one way streets but we managed. They charge for parking which is a big no-no. Hotels are for travellers and if you travel by car you shouldn’t be punished.

So it is a boutique style hotel. The reception is on the top floor. Staff are all welcoming, friendly and helpful. You get a little tour of their offerings, the club, gym and terrace. The club is open all day and you can help yourself to soft drinks and snacks including gluten free. In the early evening you get a glass of wine and more substantial food, but not quite a meal. This is all very good. Breakfast is included and quite good for a French hotel.

The rooms, slightly on the small size are good and nicely decorated with some unusual feature. The glass bathroom is stylish and the Louverd panels nearly provide complete privacy. They are comfortable, modern and air conditioned. Coffee etc. also provided.

If I have a major criticism it is the lifts. They are too small and too slow. The problem is compounded by the reception and club being on the top floor. This probably doubles the need to use the lifts and this is why it is exacerbated. Pending better lifts I would suggest putting the reception on the ground floor.

Overall a very pleasant stay and reasonable value for money given the high season when we were there. Happy to recommend the place and we already plan to go back.

really friendly staff and a quirky idea for a hotel but didn’t quite work, we felt. The club lounge for drinks all day and food in the evening, was nice but sometimes you just want a cup of tea in your room; you can have coffee in your room but only if you drink espresso... no milk provided.
The unusual design for the bathroom looks great but is seriously not practical - after 25 years of marriage I still don’t want to see or hear my husband on the toilet!! And the bathroom was an unbelievably tiny cubicle...we are not big people so who knows how you manage if you are!
They boast about being environmentally aware and ask you to reuse towels but don’t provide rails enough to dry them on. The environmental bit carries into the toiletries...good quality ‘Nuxe” but if you want anything beyond a bar of soap or a shower gel, you have to go and ask at Reception.
Oh...and the rubbery floor covering was just a little too quirky for me.
But, the location was good, the staff were lovely and if it wasn’t for the awfulness of the bathroom, we would stay in an Okko hotel again.

Our stay at OKKO was a mixed experience.

The room: Pretty good and modern with a comfortable bed and good shower, but rather small and with a bathroom that offered close to no privacy. The bathroom has glass walls with wooden ribbings - you can't completely block vision into it. Also, the bathroom door has a 5 cm gap to the wall when closed.

The staff: We were checked in by a gentleman that I can only assume had previously worked at Fawlty Towers. While both fun and charming, it was not very professional. We had two separate bookings and he mixed up bookings, rooms and keycards. Also turned out that he used the same credit card for both rooms.

Moving on to check-out, another gentleman mentioned that both room charges had been billed to the same credit card, due to the mistake mentioned above. In the end, it turned out all charges were instead on the other booking. Took some time to sort out.

Furthermore, we ordered a bottle of champagne while in Le Club and were met with some strange looks and information that no chilled bottle was available - but after 15-20 minutes later were served a bottle.

I also want to mention one lady at the reception desk; she was very friendly and helpful.

The real highlight of the hotel is the club/lounge, where a very generous, quality snack buffet with wine is served each day.

I would probably stay again if I come back to Bayonne, but there's a lot to improve around the service concept.

Their quirky intro booklet says they are aiming to set a new standard for 4* hotels. They deliver - I hope their rivals start to respond.
Great staff who showed us round the facility. The living room includes free snacks which were very substantial early evening and included a free drink. Free soft drinks and coffee 24 hours!
Fab view of the river.
The room was very good too nice facilities, free films, slight strange bathroom pod but good bed and nice touches like a apple connection to a speaker on the phone.
Massive fans of this hotel chain we will look out for them!

My husband and I enjoyed another stay at an OKKO hotel recently, this time in Bayonne. The staff were very friendly and helpful, giving us the tip on where to park on the street seeing their underground garage was full. The club had a wonderful view over the river and the hotel was a 5 min walk to the centre of the city. Thanks again OKKO.
