There are several things to recommend this hotel. The location is good, walking distance to the centre and on the number 10 bus route from the centre, spotlessly clean, welcoming and helpful staff and reasonably priced.
However, it remains a very basic 2 star hotel. It has no lift, fine if you are there for a day or two, but a pain if you are on a 3 week holiday with heavy luggage. The decor is dated, circa 1980s I would guess, and basic, the curtains just stretched across the window. The bed was very firm for our taste and uncomfortable. The room was tiny, I don't mind that, but this one was inconvenient. The corner of the bed almost jutted into the bathroom door. The only place to put the luggage was on the third bed. If you had someone in that, nowhere for luggage at all. It would have been better to say this is a double room and use the space to put the bathroom in a better position.
The TV was in a position that you got a cricked neck watching it, so didn't turn it on. The wifi was poor, with a password that required a separate one for each device, changed daily, consisted of multiple characters and frequently didn't work, requiring a trip to reception. Finally breakfast was pricey and the coffee was poor.
You didn't look forward to returning to your room. I wouldn't stay again,
