When travelling for a cheap weekend away, we often try to find places that are similar, or just a little pricier, than a standard Holiday Inn/Premier Inn, but have more character.

The Abel Heywood was lovely - it's above a pub but super quiet, really comfortable, with nice, quirky rooms. The check-in staff were lovely, and it's located in the heart of the Northern Quarter - so surrounded by cool bars and restaurants.

Don't worry about staying in the centre of town, or down near Canal St, this neighborhood was buzzing on a Saturday night.

A great find for a weekend away, thanks team.

Very handy central location, the Arndale Shopping Centre is literally at the bottom of the road. The hotel is located above the pub, but on the second floor we were far enough away from any pub noise.
Nicely decorated rooms, fairly small, but room enough for 2.
Rooms were nice and warm, so much so we put the air conditioning on, however we soon gave up on this due to recurring bizarre gurgling noises that came from the unit!
We didn't hear any noise from other rooms, but if anyone was in the corridor we could very clearly hear them, as well as the bing-bong of the lift arriving to the floor. Thankfully, as this is a small hotel, this didn't happen very often!

It smelled a little bit fusty but had air condition. Very small room but very cosy. You could make yourself a cup of instant coffee and had wifi. Although in the pub was very loud in the room you couldn't hear any noice! Very good!

Great service in this charming boutique hotel. Very pleasant and helpful staff, nicely decorated rooms. Plus, great food, drinks and fun in the pub downstairs.
Northern Quater gives lots of possibilities to spend good days and evening.

Friendly service and a great location await. Northern Quarter has a new vibe going on and the AH is handy for all it has to offer and only two minutes from the Arndale too.

Go for a loft room, much bigger and better
