“Staff need more training!!”
Reviewed 29 April 2012

My boyfriend and I checked in to the hotel after trying to get our head round the awkward roads to the car park! Once found we were happily checked in and walked down an extremely long corridor to our room.
The room was fantastic very spacious very comfortable and a beautiful bathroom- really impressed for £80 a night.
We were off to a concert so went to the bar for a couple of drinks- ordered a large sauvignon, a cider and diet coke the girl behind the bar said which Sauvignon I would I asked is there much of a price difference she replied not much. She then announced the total £18.55 for 3 drinks!!! The wine was £11.55 a glass with the cheaper being £6 not much of a difference then!
Then the wine wasnt cold the cider flat and not any real apology or gesture of goodwill a little irritating!!
The breakfast was great and when we explained the bar incident to the receptionist she was apologetic took our email etc. We were charged for breakfast when it was included so all in all great room, great breakfast but staff lack service splendour I would expect from a MacDonald hotel.

I stayed one night on business on 26th April. It took over 30 minutes to find the carpark even though I put the postcode (which kept taking me to no entry roads) as advised on booking form and by phoning the hotel en route. It would be better to have a simple map on the website. Room 411 was well furnished, spacious and had wonderful views over the city. Beds very comfortable and room service meal was excellent and good value - slow cooked shin of Scottish beef with a generous glass of red wine and no tray charge! Bathroom was big and lovely, shower very powerful. However, there is lack of maintenance as the shower hose leaked and kept squirting water, toilet was seat broken and bathroom smelt of damp, I suspect there is moisture collecting behind the toilet or under the shower plinth. Breakfast was chaotic as I waited 20 minutes for a pot of tea and toast , complained 3 times but got the usual excuse that new staff were being trained. Despite this poor service I'd still stay here again as its very convenient.

A true nightmare to find out how to park if you rely on Sat Nav or normal methods (eyes) for navigation. However, having been driving round frustrated for 10 minutes, I finally stopped outside and ran in to ask how to park. A fantastic concierge called Adam offered to come with me. It is complicated!
The room I has was an upgraded panoramic view (of Piccadilly Station suburban line). Very big and comfortable, but trouser press unplugged and switching on the lights difficult (key in slot but there is a technique where you put the key in upside down to make it work...) but very quickly resolved when reception called.
Bar staff pleasant, although fantastically overpriced, as was the food which is disappointing and only encourages people to go elsewhere to eat and therefore atmosphere to fall.
But the lifts. Oh how you wait for a blooming lift!

Room Tip: There aren't any great views, so dont pay a premium for one!

Stayed for one night, and having got to the hotel the car parking was a nightmare. It's a tiny car park and there was very little space - so having arrived late I had to wait around for someone to leave rather than go to an NCP carpark. Having got into the room, it was lovely and spacious - bathroom was gorgeous and the huge windows made the room airy and pleasant. Then went for dinner - had to wait half an hour for a table (although there was clearly spaces in the restaurant). the staff where pleasant and helpful (if a little 'scripted'!) Food was good, service was slow.... Overall I would prefer to stay somewhere else in Manchester next time.

Room Tip: The traffic noise on the 4th floor was quite loud, maybe try a higher floor.
