“Excellent value for money”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 March 2012

We stayed 2 nights and found it excellent value for money. Handy location for free bus from Piccadilly Station and central for trams too. Rooms fine and very clean although there was some noise from the ventilation system. Service really excellent - reception staff very obliging and breakfast staff friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Choose an internal facing room as traffic noise could be an issue.

Stayed here one night. Easy walk from Piccadilly train station or £6 cab ride if feeling lazy. Near to shops, lots of restaurants nearby. Asked for a map of area at reception and helpful member of staff went to get me one. First room offered had very noisy heating ventilation. Told they had a problem and lots of rooms were affected. Next room even noisier - was told it was over the gym! By this stage started to loose hope so stayed put in the next room. Rooms are pretty basic and look like they could do with a brush up. Communal corridors even more tired - security locks on one door were broken. Breakfast is OK - good choice though some things like boiled eggs have to be asked for. Would think twice before staying here agian - must to be able to find something better for £80.

Stayed here for two nights whilst attending some training in Manchester. The room was very tired and smelt of damp and not helped by the fact I was unable to open the window. Staff not very helpful or interested and the breakfast was OK.

Stayed for one night at the Premier Inn on Portland Street in Manchester. Staff were friendly and accommodating and allowed us to check in early. The room (206) faced the front of the building onto Portland Street but it was extremely quiet, no external noise at all. The room was clean and comfortable and smelled very new (the maid told us the bath had been re enamelled the night before). In my opinion, the room was what i would expect for a Premier Inn and didn't dissapoint. It also helped that i got the room on a saver rate for £39.00.

Allthough no parking in the hotel, we parked in a multi story around the corner on St James Street (behind Novotel but clearly signposted from the street) and this cost £19.50 for 24hours.

For anyone who is new to Manchester, there are lots of bars and restaurants but we decided to go to Pizza Express at Piccadilly Gardens (straight up Portland Street next to the tramlines and buses) and stay around there for drinks. There are also lots of places to go on Deansgate.

1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 February 2012

We stayed one night in February 2012, arriving late, paying £91 for the room, well over the odds. The room was OKish but cold, but not much toilet paper left, hardly any soap in the dispensers, only one bath towel. Over-eager maids entering the room in the morning. Signs of lack of care in preparing the room. But the worst aspect of our brief stay was the noise - we were just above street level and the loud noises of passing drunks and traffic kept me awake into the small hours. Perhaps it was being in Room 101! I did write this feedback and to be fair the manager tried to call me and left a message, but when I called back I got no reply so gave up. All in all a poor quality deal and very disappointing.

Room Tip: Don't accept Room 101 and if you want to sleep avoid the side and level near the busy street.
