“not so premier inn except the price”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 February 2012

Conveniently close to the motorways (2 miles) to the North of Manchester, set back from the main road with accessible car park at the rear is one of the older PI's that I have stayed at, as amatter of convenience, several times. However due to its age, now a little on the tired side compared with newer PI's - fair value if you can book an advance special rate, but otherwise relatively expensive. The adjoining (same chain owner) Beefeater grill is a bit gloomy and convenient, but not so cheap for a mundane menu and quality - but I guess they need to make some profit somehow.

My friend stays at this property all the time, and has nothing but the nicest things to say about it, so when I found I was going to be in Manchester for 4 nights, I decided to try it. The hotel is immaculately clean and well-maintained; in fact, new carpet was being installed when I arrived. My room was not ready upon arrival at 10 am, as check-in isn't until 2, but Lisa at the front desk made sure a room was made ready ASAP. While I was waiting, I went next door to the Beefeater Grill for an excellent breakfast.

I cannot state enough how wonderful, helpful and friendly every single staff member is, both at the hotel and the adjoining restaurant! I would name them all if I weren't afraid of missing someone!

One night we were awakened at 5 am by the fire alarm (thank you, guest who found it necessary to smoke in the room...) and we found ourselves outside in the freezing cold in our nightwear for an hour. Next morning, we jokingly asked if we were going to get free breakfast, to be informed, to our surprise, that we were being refunded for the night's stay.

My ONLY criticism is that there are no phones in the rooms, so every simple request for information requires a trip to reception, and there is no way to call from room to room. This meant in my case, that calling my brother required an international cell phone call, as neither of us have U.K. phones.

I look forward to staying at this property on my next trip.

We spent a night here. Comfortable newly refurbished room and large comfortable bed. Some road noise -but since we'd been to a family party we still slept quite well!
There is a cafe just down the road (towards central Manchester) where you can get a fair breakfast.

We stayed here to be near some friends, and it was fantastic. It was not far from the tram (5 min walk) that took you straight into the city centre, plus the gorgeous Heaton Park was across the road. A must-see.
A Beefeater restaurant is next door, and they are reasonably priced too. Lovely food.
There is also a Salisbury's about 5 mins down the road which sells everything from food and drink, to clothing and anything else you need.
The rooms were spotless, bed comfy and staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

We stayed at the Heaton Park Premier Inn whilst visiting family in the area. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the room spotless (it had just been refurbished) and the bed was very comfortable. The only real negative is the road noise. It wasn't enough to stop us from sleeping though you can always hear it even with the window closed, but then it's a busy road. It's probably quieter if you have a room at the back rather than facing the road.
However, for £29 a night, I think you'd struggle to find better accommodation!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
It's the mixture of old and new that's so delightful at Heaton Park. You're in the historic area of Bury, right next to a park and estate that dates back hundreds of years. Yet you're a short tram ride from an ultra-modern city, plus there's all mod cons in our hotel too. Feed the animals in Heaton Park. Or feed your appetite for shopping at Bury's famous shopping centre and market. Party like mad at Manchester Pride festival, or celebrate a win at Old Trafford. Then come back to comfy beds, 40 inch flat screen TVs and a Beefeater restaurant. ... more   less
