You get what you pay for, and this place is pretty cheap and no frills, which is why I have rated it "average". What are people expecting for £25 a night? Internet worked well for me (and is free) but for breakfast you will need to go to one of the cafes up the road, or the Sainsburys. The location is very convenient, although you may find other accommodation options in the same area which may cost a little more but offer more too. Its OK. Kind of like a basic hostel. There is Sky TV and the pub is not noisy at all (which had been one of my concerns).

I was looking something cheap and cheerful. The hotel is in much need of an update but I was happy enough. The room was clean and the staff very friendly. Within walking distance of the city centre and just up the road is the fabulous Museum of Industry and Science.

It's an old pub with ten rooms. I paid £25 for my en suite room. It's tired sure, but if you misspent some of your distant youth in bedsits or shared rooms, it'll take you back! If you have only ever lived in high spec modern accommodation & never been camping, you might not be too keen!

It was great being in a small place - no-one running down corridors & lifts going up & down like you get in big hotels. The best night's sleep I've ever had in a city hotel. I also felt very safe having a drink in the bar.

Right by the canal, so good for a run (I recommend Throstle Nest Bridge & back)!

This is honestly the worst place we have ever stayed!
Ensuit smelt of a mixture of damp and overpowering cheap airfreshener. Carpet wet.
Poor fitting firedoor to bedroom. Window wedged half open. Would neither close or open fully. Broken window downstairs not even boarded up.
On a positive bar maid was friendly. Clean sheets and towels. Manager replaced shower hose after it split and spurted water everywhere.
