Don't get me wrong , I can't complain about the £5 charge to get in on New Year's Eve, there was a singer, drink at midnight , a few fireworks and plenty of nice pie or curry to eat but the evening went by without much of a celebration, there was plenty of bar staff, one young male was a bit miserable, but all the others were friendly...including the landlords..if you were sat in the vaults area the singer did his best but the atmosphere did not transfer into the room we were sat in and at midnight there was no old Lang syne to join in the singing...just seemed to be the fireworks in London on the to...not a bad night but could of been better.

After enjoying several meals in the jolly carter, I was really disappointed on Sunday at the quality of our carvery. The meats were cooked to usual perfection but the veg was dry and appeared to have been stood for some time. The roasties were dry and frozen and the Yorkshire puddings were rubbery. We did wonder if the chef had changed? Won't be rushing back

Visited the Jolly Carter last week with friends and had terrific food and enjoyed the evening, having had such a good time and having friends from abroad staying decided to take them and family (anniversary) this week, booked for 6 pm but on arrival was told that the restaurant has a private function on and we would have to eat in the public bar, management relented but felt rushed and the children had to finish off their deserts in bar area with people using e cigarette's not very pleasant. Wonderful food very sorry it was spoiled.

It was served piping hot fresh and clean my only complaint is I didn't have room to sample a dessert but definitely will be going back and recommending to all friends and family
