On the positive side this is a large, clean and functional hotel within easy walk of the town centre. It has good on-site parking and all the amenities you would expect. The basic room rate was also very competitive, even for a Friday night in March.
Conversely, the other side of the equation is that the décor is very dated, particularly in the bedrooms, and neither the restaurant or bar have the ambiance of a quality hotel. They are more travel lodge than anything than portrays itself as a major upmarket brand.
That said, it ticked many boxes and the room was comfortable despite the décor. We were put off dining in the hotel as there was a very large and relatively boisterous wedding going on at the same time but we found some perfectly good alternatives in the old town, barely a 10 minute walk away.More
