Thank you for your kind review and we hope to see you again soon.
We had a call on mobile asking us time of arrival which we gave. When we arrived we were welcomed and signed the registration form we then paid for the room and were shown the dining room and given the key to our room which was number 17 on the top floor! When we entered the room we could feel the cold and shut the curtains to try to maintain any warm there was, in the room was a very small oil heater as the heating was not on. The bed was fairly comfortable and bedding was clean, also in the room was a single bed, dressing table and chair, tv on the wall. The shower room consisted of a toilet, wash basin and shower, the radiator was not on when we arrived. There was nowhere to place anything in this room no shelf. The whole room needs updating and the net curtains were mouldy and needed a good wash! The windows were very drafty and curtains were dated as most of the decor was throughout the areas we used. We slept okay but not sound and in the morning after a shower we went down to breakfast, my husband prefers poached egg instead of fried egg and this seemed to be a problem when ordering a full english breakfast but after some discussion with the cook they agreed to do this! The breakfast was fair but nothing special in the end.
I am afraid i would not recommend this hotel or book it again.
Thank you for your response and we are sorry that you seemed to have some problems with your stay. Your room was upgraded free of charge to a small family room from a double room which has an extra bed and was on the second floor which is quiet and has a nice view overlooking Queens Park. Except for a ground floor room normally reserved for disabled customers all our rooms are on the first or second floor. The central heating is on a timer and was programmed to come on about half an hour after you checked in that afternoon, hence customers are given extra heating facilities for their convenience. The breakfast is complimentary and we do our best to offer you a nice cooked breakfast with a choice of menu. There is no problem requesting for poached eggs except that we have to inform customers that it will take a little bit longer to properly prepare poached eggs. We are sorry that your stay did not meet your expectation, however, we can assure you that we have tried our best to offer you and our other customers good value for your stay.
We stayed in this hotel for two weeks and we felt very welcomed. Stephen and his wife were great hosts and they served us a lovely breakfast every morning.
The room and the bathroom were small but still very comfortable and clean; they were cleaned daily by the friendly staff. However, we had only a small wardrobe with hangers in our twin room.
All in all, we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend the Swandown Hotel!
Well run hotel that is in a good location for town centre and local bars. Hotel is easy to find and has free parking at the rear of the property. Rooms are large and seemed clean. Breakfast was mainly English but had fruit and a few other options available. Not a 5 star property but perfectly usable for a 1 or 2 night stay. Wi-Fi work well enough once connected but can be a bit tricky to get working. No problems with noise or traffic around the hotel. Hotel does have a small bar.
Thank you for your kind review. Hope to see you again.
Conveniently located in the heart of Old town, dead centre on Victoria Road, bang opposite a bus stop, Swandown B&B is one of the best-located and reasonably priced hotels in Swindon. I reached this place at 11 PM but the management was kind enough to accommodate me well past the closing time of the front desk. There are quite a few eat-outs close-by and a few of them are open till late in the night, so that saved the day, for me ! There's a Morrisons around the corner for all daily needs and a pub around the corner, for problems that a Morrisons can't solve ! The Brunel Shopping Centre is also at walking distance from the hotel. The room size was a tad small but the rooms were functional - a wash basin with hot water on tap 24x7, a flat-screen TV, a work-table, an open clothes-rack to keep/hang clothes, room heating, and a comfortable bed with clean bed linen. While the room was far from luxurious, it did the job, and most of all, was decently priced given the superb location. I was staying there for business so the free wifi was a Godsend, given that my phone wasn't connecting to my laptop for some reason. The breakfast was basic - fruits, yoghurt, vegetarian samosa/omlette options, milk and 4-5 different types of cereals and toast slices. The basic room didn't have an en-suite toilet but the common bath/toilet were very well maintained.
All in all, a well managed, well-located, functional B&B with warm staff, that's budget-friendly, too.
I stayed in this B&B for a week on a work trip.
The rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable and the breakfast was good.
There is a downstairs lounge with comfortable sofas an a desk.
The Wifi worked well in my room and in the lounge.
The owners were very helpful and I would recommend this B&B.
Unfortunately, due to work reasons, I needed to leave at very short notice.
The owners were very understanding, although I would have preferred to have given them more notice.
