This 'all you can eat' restaurant was recommended to a family member so three of us visited on a Monday evening to check it out. We arrived around 7.00pm and although there were a few other diners in, there were plenty of free tables.
Our first impression was that everything looked really clean, the restaurant was nicely decorated, the menus weren't sticky (always a bonus!), we were given a finger bowl on the table (a nice touch!) and we couldn't believe the selection of dishes to choose from. This was the most extensive menu for an 'all you can eat' chinese meal that I'd ever seen! Normally at these type of places it's a limited menu to select from but not at China Garden.
The three staff members we met were Charlie, Simon and Amy who were all lovely - so friendly and welcoming. Simon was great as he asked us what type of dishes we liked and recommended a few things to us that we probably would not have ordered otherwise.
We started with soup, then moved onto starters which were quickly brought out to us and cooked to perfection. Simon had recommended we try the salt & pepper mushrooms and they were a triumph - so tasty - in fact, they were so nice that we ordered another portion! We had all the usual starters that we like such as sesame prawn toast, seaweed, ribs, spring rolls, won ton and satay chicken skewers which were delicious. Simon also recommended that we tried the smoked chicken and this was also really tasty. Feeling stuffed from all the starters we moved onto duck with pancakes which again was well cooked and enjoyed by all.
The number of main dishes to choose from was vast and broken down into sections such as chicken, beef, pork, noodle dishes etc and we shared a schezuan duck, chicken noodles, chicken curry, egg fried rice and chips. There was so much food that we struggled to eat it and did end up leaving a little which was a shame as we don't like to waste food BUT there was so much on the table. We hadn't realised that dishes such as the curry which we'd ordered 2 portions of to share between the 3 of us were brought out in 2 separate bowls, each full to the brim, so we did have a lot of food.
You can also have a pudding but we were so full that we just couldn't fit it in so skipped that course. Our meals were £19.95 each which was excellent value for really tasty and well presented food.
We have a family celebration coming up in March so think we will probably visit the 'China Garden' again with other family members. This is definitely a restaurant that I'd recommend and can't wait to go back to again. Thank you.
