“Nice weekend break”
Reviewed 1 March 2012

Stayed 2nights as a short break. Good position of hotel free parking within a five to ten minute walk from the town centre . Payed a small suplement and had a larger room overlooking the stray which was very comfortable.Building work going on but did not interfere with our stay at all. Hotel was very quite no noise from building work scaffolding did not interfere with our view. Had two meals in resturant which were excellent. The hotel in general was clean and well maintained. Enjoyed the buffet style breakfast each morning. Visited Skipton castle, Pump rooms in Harrogate had tea in Betty's tea rooms all in all an enjoyable couple of days.

Room Tip: Room 223 plenty of space to sit and watch tv late in evening. View of stray. Quite room

My wife and I booked to stay here for the weekend 25-26 Feb. A room overlooking the view at the front of the hotel was on offer. We werent told that all we would see from the window was scaffolding and the debris netting blocking any other view. Work was being done on the hotel but there was no mention of this at the time of booking.
A school party was also staying in the hotel and making lots of noise in the halls outside the rooms on the firstnight and I had to complain about it.
Restaurant food was good but pricey. Bar food was good. Carpets on 2nd floor halls were a bit scruffy. En-suite was very small. Staff were pleasant and efficient. Wouldn't go back here again

Room Tip: While work is being done at the front of the hotel choose a room at the back of the hotel

We stayed here for my wife's 40'th Birthday, looking at the hotel options in Harrogate viewed the trip advisor reviews and booked, well tried to book!
On initial contact we were told the hotel was very busy and we could not book, on visiting the web site we were able to book? I would expect staff to know if its busy or not!
On arrival scaffolding around the front facade of the building, this was not reported on the website..... Come on Best Western a litte bit of honesty....
On booking in very friendly and polite member of staff on reception... A couple of things she should know: 1. What time breakfast is served on Sunday Mornings, and 2. Which rooms provide a view of the park opposite, (We were told ours did but actually it was car PARK)

The room was well appointed and cosy, not very warm for the time of year to be honest....

WIFI is free however not easy to sort out, informaion in the room would help.

We ate out in the evening, on return we had drinks in the bar lounge, very nice, good service, the waiter was friendly.

Breakfast the next morning..... What a tragedy...... Realy hoped 4 of us could sit down and eat together, well we sat together then I made the fatal error of ordering poached eggs, didn't mind the wait, eggs arrived went for toast... No white bread!!! plenty of staff patrolling tables clearing plates just not keeping an eye on food replenishment... waited ages for white bread then eggs cold.... ordered more eggs, on arrval looked good, oh no disaster, cut into one....... water and uncooked whte all over my toast.... Aaaargh.
Spoke to Restaurant manager...... decided on scrambled eggs and toast..... oh no you've guessed it.... No White Bread.........
Then embarrassed due to chef attending to apologise for eggs and insisting on cooking 2 more.....
Eventually had breakfast although my wife and our friends had eaten.
Returned to room to find key card not working, our riends too..... a trip to reception to be asked if I had kept the key card with my mobie phone as this neutralises them, well no I hadn't neither had we been advised not to keep keycard wth mobile phone.
I'm sure this hotel can achieve 4 Stars but not for us I'm afraid....
Its beautiful inside, its a shame about the rest....... I can only honestly give an average rating... Such a shame....

We attended a small business conference at the Cedar Court and were very impressed by the efficient way the delegates were looked after. Carla Smith was very enthused and professional when taking the booking and organising our event and Duty Manager, Tracy ensured the day went as smoothly as possible. The catering was fantatsic from the danish pastries on arrival, indvidual speciality biscuits during breaks and out hot and cold buffet lunch - compliments to the chef! I would recommend the Cedar Court to anyone hosting meetings and conferences. Many Thanks
