“Lovely Museum on Several Floors!”
Review of Reginald's Tower

There is lots to see in this small museum within the remains of the Castle Tower, right on the waterfront in Waterford. The information is clear and well presented and the displays are interesting. The lighting is dark, but doesn't adversely affect the experience. It is on the Historic Ireland card, so access is free with that membership card. We spent about 45 minutes visiting the tower museum.

Visited Reginald tower on one of the special days (first Wednesday of each month Irish heritage sites are free entry!!!) So was delighted, not sure how much it normally costs but wouldn't want to pay more than €5-8.
The artefacts are very interesting and on the top floor there is a lovely video with the history of Waterford dating from the Vikings to modern day.
I visited with my parents and daughter (3yo). Do yourself and favour and either take turns visiting or avoid entirely with small children or those with limited ability as the 3 flights of stairs are legit terrifying and steep with a tiny hand rail.
I get that it is the genuine stairs but I just wish the girl would have told me before I went in.

This is a cool location and we enjoyed the history of the tower. However, if pressed for time, spend it at the more impressive locations in Waterford (Medieval Museum and Bishop's Palace).

Very interesting history here, very good for a rainy day when you are bored and want to check something out for cheap.

Reginald's Tower is an architectural and historic treasure, and is a great little museum. This was our first stop in Waterford and our experience was excellent. The exhibits are clear enough for young audiences, but interesting enough to hold the attention of adult history buffs. This is a must see if you are in the area!
