Owner description: The magnificent curved facade of the warm butter-coloured stone building draws in the visitor. The eye-catching giant sculpture on the gable was inspired by a tiny 13th century belt mount found in Waterford. It is Ireland’s only purpose-built medieval museum and the only building on the island to incorporate two medieval chambers, the 13th century Choristers’ Hall and the 15th century Mayor’s Wine Vault. Don't miss the stunning Heavens' Embroidered Cloths, Waterford's cloth-of-gold 15th century vestments, the only piece of clothing from King Henry VIII's reign to survive in the world - the 'Cap of Maintenance' and the Great Charter Roll from 1373, containing the earliest contemporary portrait of a medieval English king (Edward III) shown to Queen Elizabeth on her 2011 state visit to Ireland. These and many more unique artefacts await you on your guided tour of the award wining Medieval Museum.

Fantastic fun. We had a 6 year old and a 2 year old with us and they both enjoyed it. We got a guided tour from the Curator himself and he made it very interesting and quite funny also. There was also a man in the lobby who was teaching archery and all about different types of bows and arrows....needless to say that the 6 year old LOVED that! It only cost €14 for the guided tour, and we were able to go back around as often as we liked on our own afterwards.

Adele, I'm delighted that you enjoyed your day out at the award winning Medieval Museum and more importantly your 6 year old and 2 year old had an enjoyable time too. You were fortunate to get the Curator, who we let 'out' of his office to meet with the public and ensures all of our guests have a great time when they visit.

We do appreciate you coming to the museum and for also taking the time to review us here on Tripadvisor, thank you!

Good afternoon Belinda

Thank you for your review of the Medieval Museum and also for your review of the Bishop's Palace museum, you took advantage of the 'Combined Ticket' option which is very reasonable and the most cost effective way of seeing both museums.

The team in both museum's really want to make sure you enjoy your experiences and our guides are excellent at what they do, so we really appreciate your fantastic feedback and I will pass that onto our guides in the Medieval Museum.

Yes, our Gift Shop has an excellent selection of products which you can peruse at your leisure when your finished your tours.

The artifacts and exhibits here were amazing. From the beginning of the tour to the end of it, the history of Ireland and the artifacts here were like no other. The tour guide was fantastic, and the price was reasonable with purchasing of the three museums.
