We only had about an hour to spend after visiting the Bishop's Palace, but this is an amazing place. Even if you are part of a tour group. If you have time off in the evening, take time to go to the Bishop's Palace and Medieval Museum. They are right next to each other and include a package price of $10 euro. We spent an hour in each museum after getting the evening off from our group. The guides are very friendly, and informative. They have wonderful hidden treasures. You will be glad that you did!

Good morning Irisheyes

Thank you for your recent visit to the award winning Medieval Museum, we really love to hear what people think of their visit and you obviously enjoyed it.

The guided tours are the best way to see the museum and the fact that you can wander back through the museum after the tour gives you more time to thoroughly enjoy all of the artefacts that we have on display.

We look forward to your next visit!

Good morning

Many thanks for your review of your visit to the award winning Medieval Museum, we do appreciate you taking the time to let us know how you enjoyed it, thank you!

There is plenty to see within the award winning Medieval Museum, its the only museum in Europe built over two National Monuments, the 13th century Choristers Hall and the 15th century Mayor's Wine vault, we then have two floors of fantastic artefacts which include the Great Parchment Book of Waterford from 1350, the Great Charter Roll which was commissioned in 1373, the stunning collection of High Mass Vestments, the 'Cloth of Gold Vestments from 1468, the only piece of clothing from King Henry VIII to survive, the 'Cap of Maintenance' from 1536, and a relic of the true Cross in a case from circa 110AD, a gift from Pope Paschal as well as the many other artefacts and audio visual presentations in the different auditoriums on each floor.

Not alone are the contents worth seeing, but as you mentioned, the outside is stunning also, we are so delighted that you enjoyed your visit, we do hope you get an opportunity to visit us again!

Waterford is a delightful city with a rich history.Plenty of attractions suit families with children. The walking tour is good.As is the Waterford Crystal tour and the Medieval Museum(take the guided tour option). If time limited, both these are the best of a rather impressive list of attractions. There good car parks in Waterford all along the quayside.

The new stone building is evident in the modern display and features, but it works.

The history of Waterford is a rich and interesting one. The underlying theme of the display is brutal and forced based environs of old with numerous references to the greed basis of many aspects of the history.

The displays - especially the detailed models - were well done and the audio visual support is well done but is difficult to justify in expense terms.

It is is an interesting historical review if a bit jaded.
