Food good value and quality although not great variety. Attention to detail by chef is excellent. If you are a wine buff, bring your own and pay corkage. Selection basic

The Triple House is a place you can bring your friends and know that the food they are served is going to be tasty and not expensive. The menu doesn't change very often but it doesn't really need to.

Absolutely love this place. Always an excellent standard and friendly service. Amazing value, hard to beat. The garlic potatoes are amazing. I've tried everything on the menu at this stage and would recommend it all!

My husband and I have been eating at Pat Fox's restaurants since the mid 80's. At that time Pat was the proud owner of The Noble Grape Italian restaurant in Stockwell Street in Drogheda. The location of his restaurant has changed now, to another cosy and homely venue in this quaint little village in County Louth, and the dining experience remains as enjoyable as it was all those years ago.

Pat is a fantastic character, an excellent wine buff, and a talented chef and these are no doubt among the reasons why in addition to attracting new punters, Pat has a very loyal following among people like myself who have been a fan of his for many years.

The restaurant seats about 50 guests or so. There is a lovely cosy waiting area, with an open fire, where guests are welcomed on arrival, and where one has time to peruse the menu and order drinks. Almost always it is Pat's wife Siobhan who brings the menus and serves the wine, and she is a charming lady, who is always very attentive to her guests needs. The additional waiting staff are all very helpful and friendly and they work hard all evening to make sure that everybody is well looked after.

As others have said, Pat has an evening menu which offers a starter, a main course, a dessert and a tea or coffee. All for only 20 euro. And with house wines at only 12 euro a bottle, a couple can have a very inexpensive night out, without compromising on quality.

Starters include our own personal favourite, which is spinach filled crepes, with a tomato and cream sauce. There is normally a soup of the day on offer, garlic mushrooms or smoked salmon. Every table gets a basket of Pat's homemade brown bread (baked fresh every day) which is delicious, and always served with "proper" butter, which is so much nicer than little catering tubs of "spread"!

Our favourite main course is pan fried chicken fillets with a cream and tarragon sauce. I also love the lightly dusty haddock fillets that feature on the menu quite a lot, and the salmon is another particular favourite of mine too. Our sons love the medallions of beef, served with a pepper sauce (an extra 10 euro for this option) and as someone already mentioned all main courses are served with cast iron pans filled with special sauteed potatoes, which are pan fried having been tossed in Pat's secret seasoning!

For dessert my family are all big fans of the daquoise. This is a light fluffy meringue, filled with cream (flavoured with something alcoholic from what I can gather!) and chopped grapes. It is one of the nicest desserts I have ever tasted. I haven't ever seen this on any other menu, so perhaps it's another one of Pat's secrets!

The choice for dessert is usually daquiose or apple pie served with homemade caramel ice cream, a cheeseboard or a liqueur coffee.

Tea & coffee are served at the end with little minty chocolates.

As others have mentioned, Pat's menu varies very little from day to day, and from week to week. To be perfectly honest, it varies little from month to month or from year to year! For some folk, that just doesn't work and for others it's almost what makes the place somewhere you want to return to over and over. If you have any doubt that the plan works just try trying to get a table at short notice! The Triple House is booked out most evenings of the week, and there are always familiar faces there every time we visit! Some of us just can't get enough of Pat's perfectly cooked fare!

We've had our Christmas dinner at the Triple House on three occasions now, and I can honestly say that these have been very special days. A true home from home.

I like to stop in here at least once or twice a year. The freshest of ingredients, cooked to perfection, every single time. My only complaint would be that the menu hasn't changed in years but horses for courses eh?? Great spot.
