Just visited the Hoban Hotel for a meal. We chose the chicken supreme special and asked what vegetables were being served with it. The waitress went to the kitchen to check and came back and told us it was a medley which included, carrot, sugar snap peas and parsnip with mash. My partner dislikes very little when it comes to food but parsnips are up there with his pet hates. He declined the veg due to the parsnips. When we saw our meals being brought to our table in no time at all my partner joked that they must have a good microwave. The waitress put our plates down and walked away. We both looked at the plates and each other and both commented together that it looked like pepper sauce. Guess what, it was pepper sauce, and to add insult to injury there was no parsnip. We were in a rush and ate what we were served. Nobody came near our section of the restaurant again to check on us. We finished and went to pay. The waitress said €37 and we both did a double take.
€37 for one plate of chicken and pepper sauce and mash and one chicken pepper sauce and veg.
I pointed out that in my lifetime of working in hospitality (almost 40 years) and my partner coming from a family of chefs, neither of us had EVER seen chicken and pepper sauce served as chicken supreme. I suggested someone have a word with the chef and educate them.
Just one more thing if any one from the hotel reads this, supreme is boneless, our chicken had the wing attached which makes it chicken côtelette.
