Review of Lyrath Estate Hotel

My stay at Lyrath was disappointing and I will not be returning anytime soon.
While the setting is lovely and the bed very comfortable,
This is NOT a five star experience!!!
I booked months before arrival and I specifically asked on the booking form for a ground floor room.
It is obvious nobody bothers to check 'special requests' as long as they have your credit card details..the room we were given was on a higher floor and as far away from a lift as could possibly be!!!
I got a standard apologetic email the following day..but the impression you get is that customer satisfaction is not a priority!
The room did not have an iron and when we asked for one..what we were given was like something a child would play with!!!
Hairdryer in room was plastic and also of very poor quality.
Breakfast was average at best..and there was an additional charge for coffee if you wanted latte or americano (barista).
The pool was extremely busy with young children and it would have been great if they had sectioned off even one lane for anyone who wanted to swim!!..as is often the case in other hotels.
I have stayed in much better 4 star hotels than this.
5 star setting..and prices, but that's where it ends!!!

Very clean hotel and super friendly staff -we loved our stay, grounds are beautiful and atmosphere was great-brilliant live music in the hotel foyer at night on the weekends.

Stayed in a Manor House Suite for one night. Enjoyed a massage, time in the spa, a walk within the grounds, and dinner at The Grill & Bar. The room was large and very satisfactory. The spa was pleasant. The restaurant food was okay (had a burger with no choice on how to be cooked which signals to me it isn’t fresh which I would expect at a site of this calibre), drinks were great. The staff overall are fantastic and friendly with a real can do attitude and mucking in together to give a great experience. The hotel grounds are wonderful and with two distance designated walks (2.5km and 4km) options are simple to navigate. Were it not for some overspilling noise from the resident’s bar overnight I would have given 5* overall. Staff however responded positively when discussed and made additional efforts to make things right so you can’t fault that.
Bumped into the owners while walking the grounds. I get they live on site but a short chat with customers wouldn’t go a miss. You never know who your customers are.

Recently had a 3 day break with wife and two kids, absolutely loved it. Start to finish our stay exceeded our expectations. Food was amazing, rooms spotless but the service was just perfection. We can’t wait to come back. 5⭐️
