My wife and I spent three nights in this superb hotel at the end of September 2018. We were attending the Rotary Ireland annual conference.
Following parking in the huge car park we had a most friendly and efficient check in experience. We had arrived early but our room was ready and we had time to relax before the weekend activities began. The hotel is just a short drive from the centre of the beautiful town of Kilkenny.
Our entire weekend experience could not be faulted. In short excellent service, superb food, beautiful accommodation and lovely surroundings.
The Conference was very well serviced and our overall experience extremely positive. We will stay again.

Room tip: All rooms are great.

We were on our annual winter holiday here, in lieu of our usual trip to the sun. We had the most amazing weather in Kilkenny. Hot sunny days and moonlit nights. Perfection. The Lyrath Estate is not like some other 5 star hotels like Powerscourt or K Club. It doesn’t carry the same air of old style luxury. It is more modern, especially in the rooms. There is a traditional bar, Tupper’s, where they have a good barfood menu. We enjoyed a meal there one night. The log fire is gorgeous. Then there is Yew, an AA 2 Florette restaurant where we ate the first night. Delicious food. The staff were a little distracted by a large influx of Toyota conference attendees, but they were very friendly and we enjoyed our evening. Of course the crowning glory of Lyrath Estate is the estate itself. There are lovely old trees and various tranquil gardens around the building. One walk was 2.5kms and the other was 1.5kms. Our party muddled the two up and were gone for hours. We revived everyone with a lovely coffee and homemade biscuits in the Atrium, where a delicious Afternoon Tea is served. The reception staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The men, who serviced our rooms, were very efficient and friendly. Four of us went for a 25 minute spa treatment which was included in the rate. Together with the therapy pool that was deemed a highlight. We enjoyed our forays in the morning before breakfast to swim in the 17m warm infinity pool. The breakfast buffet was wonderful. The cooked food very fresh and plentiful and the rest of the buffet was amazing.
So it was a great success. During the days we went to Kilkenny Castle, Kilkenny Design Centre, the Mediaeval Mile Museum, Market Cross Shopping Centre, the inimitable Smithwick’s Experience (a must!), Mount Juliet for a G&T, Nicholas Mosse in Bennettsbridge for lunch, the Waterford Treasures (only half an hour away). In the evening apart from eating in the hotel two nights we had dinner in Campagne and Truffles. Nothing is far away, mostly 5-9 minutes and parking was easy. We recommend Lyrath Estate and Kilkenny for a break

We only had one night at the hotel. I would have loved more time here. The spa looked great. The building is beautiful. Our room was lovely and a perfect size with a great bathroom. We enjoyed dinner and breakfast at the hotel.

A beautiful experience such a shame so expensive. I travelled with a friend and this was truely how the other half lives, we had afternoon tea first a little disappointed with how slow the service was, we then had visit to thermal spa, then evening meal. My goodness the attention to detail was v.i.p. style our meal appeared very small on huge plates but it was enough really enjoyed it we had little error in that we ordered extra portion of chips and we forgot to pay for this as we were on a package deal we were only back in the room when we got a call about this. I asked to place it on the bill for when we were checking out but this was not possible which was a shame. The desserts are very expensive roughly 9.50. But would love to return someday to take it all in as it was so over whelming to an ordinary Joe soap. I was so surprised with all the families and young children that were on a break there I know it was mid term but not what you would think was a family hotel as it is so expensive, but you get what you pay for.

Spent 2 nights over busy bank holiday weekend, 2 adults, 2 children in a “deluxe family room”.
The room - nice, spacious and likely a deluxe. But deluxe family room? Unlikely, as it had 2 temporary beds for the children in it rather than any fixed single beds. So furniture was shoved in corners and not all usable. But it had a nice bit of extra space with a dressing area.
Details - a room for 4 people but only towels, toiletries, cups etc for 2 people. Had to ask for more towels both days. TV channels selection was poor. No information about the hotel in the room.

Checkin - we arrived at an unfortunate time. Just as a number of wedding guests were also arriving. Busy checkin. No information about hotel given, not even the times of breakfast, though this information was given to the wedding guests ahead of us. The details... I ended up going back to reception later to find out what we needed to know, but this is annoying.

Spa - we paid the €15 each for 2hrs. No problem with this. As long as everything was working or we were advised if something was broken. Everything pointed out to us, including a sauna which was clearly not working. The detail...

We were told we could borrow bikes from the healthclub and given maps of the grounds by Reception. A number of bikes in the room of bikes we were shown were broken. The map is of little use to cyclists due to the fact that the routes are over grass (even it is cut)

Kids club events were good, including dinner for the kids followed by magic show.

No mention of the food festival on in town that weekend, which is a shame the local hotels were promoting such an event. We knew about it ourselves.

Overall a nice stay, but not sure we would return at the price we paid... a little steep for what we got.
