One of the most memorable evenings spent in the Emerald Isle was in this bar and restaurant, unfortunately my staff in Kilkenny was for but one night. On arriving at the Hotel, we were greeted by staff that made us feel as though we friends, regulars. But as soon as we spoke, they soon realised we were from Australia. Conversation flowed between the staff and ourselves regarding Australia, were we had been and of places to visit while in Kilkenny.

The same happened when the band was setting up, without request they threw in a few Australian songs and they also introduced us to three other Australians that were in the audience.

I was surprised with the meal, it wasn't quite the Pub meal I was expecting i.e.., (large plate of potato chips hiding a small piece of meat). The plate was well laid out, looked visually appetising, tantalising odours, cooked well and great to taste.

I would recommend this venue to all other travellers and to resident alike.

My friends and I recently went to Kilkenny for the roots music festival and Matt the Millers bar was the first establishment we encountered. Instantly on entering the premises we were all greeted with a warm welcome, the staff were all so friendly that we decided to have a few drinks and a bite to eat and were well impressed. The food was to a very high standard so much so that we all eat there on several occasions over our 3 day visit, the prices were very reasonable for the quality of food provided, all the staff were very accommodating and efficient as the kitchen was on the top floor of a 3 story building. I would highly recommend that anyone visiting Kilkenny should pay Matt the Miller bar a visit. Great food, great entertainment and most of all great staff, the owners should be proud!! P.s say hello to Tom and Sharon their top notch.

We had dinner at Matt the Millers. The portion was large- so I could see sharing the meal. Service was very good and live Irish music until 9 pm. There are several floors to this establishment. The location is directly across from our hotel - Castle River Front -easy short walk to other Pubs.

The staff here are absolutely fantastic in the service they provide to customers. From the moment we arrived the staff were over to our table and engaged in friendly banter with the kids and provided them with colouring pencils and pages and this had been with all kids that entered the venue.

The portions were fantastic and they also provide a kids menu and again for the kids meals the portions were huge and all the different meals that we opted for were absolutely delicious and very well presented. I have no problem in saying when I am in Kilkenny again that it will be here I will go to for a guaranteed great meal.

I would recommend Matt's Famous Clonakilty Chicken. You will not be disappointed.
