“What an amazing restoration”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 week ago

A beautiful castle and a privilege to see that we still have it. One of the guides, John Kelly, was wonderful and gave us so much interesting information about the restoration of the building and the attention to detail that was taken to ensure a faithful reconstruction of rooms that were literally just shells. You would never know unless you were told! Also the 'Blue Corridor' has some fascinating 'before and after' photographs of the work that was undertaken here. The grounds look stunning also but unfortunately it was a rather drizzly and windy morning so we didnt take a proper stroll!

Kilkenny Castle is a tour well worth doing as the castle has been restored to an unbelievably high standard. There is also lovely gardens and walks around the castle which offer a lovely way to pass a couple of hours

“Well Worth the time Spent”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 week ago

Beautiful castle restored to original grandeur! This is one of the few castles that people lived in within the last 100 years so it is more than just a stone shell. The restoration was wonderfully done. There are pictures of the before and the horrid condition it was in. It is a self guided tour. The grounds are so lovely and I'm sure even better when the flowers bloom. I would highly recommend visiting Kilkenny specifically to see this wonderful castle. Great piece of Irish history being preserved that we all should support. There is a cute little tea room at the end and a history movie across the grounds in the tower. Something for every age to enjoy.
