This historic Castle offers an glance back into the elegance of the Victorian era as well as a peek into the foundation of Irish heritage. Unique and masterfully restored, it is a "must visit" for those who visit Kilkenny.

“A Beautiful Country House, well worth a visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 week ago

A beautiful country house/Castle dating back to the medieval period. Well kept and cared for with helpful stewards who were more than willing to impart their knowledge of the site. As good as anything you would see on the mainland, and well worth a visit. NB Parking is not easy as the on street parking near the castle is normally full, parking in the public car park by the river behind Dunnes Stores is probably a better bet.

“Kilkenny Castle ”

Kilkenny Castle is a beautiful castle to visit. Adult tickets are 8. There is public parking nearby but we stayed at Rosquil House B&B and were able to walk to the castle from there, so no need for parking. The grounds are lovely. Make sure to see the audio-visual presentation before you go inside the castle. It gives you some history on the castle. You will need about 1 hour here. Enjoy.

“Very Historical!”

The castle was very neat to tour around in! There were lots of rooms to check out and was neat to take a self tour of the facility. The park ground is amazing and had fun views out of the castle.

“Trip through time”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 week ago

Kilkenny is a beautiful place and a trip there wouldn't be complete without a trip to the castle. Be aware that this castle has been heavily restored over the years to bring it back to the condition that you see it now. If you are expecting a medieval castle you will be disappointed as the interior looks more like and english aristocratic home from the victorian era. It is a fascinating place though with helpful staff. The grounds, which are free to visit, are a nice place to relax if the weather cooperates.
