“Very Historical!”

The castle was very neat to tour around in! There were lots of rooms to check out and was neat to take a self tour of the facility. The park ground is amazing and had fun views out of the castle.

“Trip through time”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 week ago

Kilkenny is a beautiful place and a trip there wouldn't be complete without a trip to the castle. Be aware that this castle has been heavily restored over the years to bring it back to the condition that you see it now. If you are expecting a medieval castle you will be disappointed as the interior looks more like and english aristocratic home from the victorian era. It is a fascinating place though with helpful staff. The grounds, which are free to visit, are a nice place to relax if the weather cooperates.

“A little disappointed”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 week ago

The castle was very nice but a lot areas were still being developed. The tour was self-guided with individual guides in each area to go over the history of the room. I really didn't mind this but the quality of the guides were a bit of a hit or miss. Some of the guides were well-versed but others were awful and hard to listen to - especially a women from France who clearly did not know much about her area. I was disappointed that they only showed two bedrooms that were used by vistors of the castle and none of the bedrooms used by the family members.

“Medieval times”

First time here and totally enjoyed everything from the grounds of the castle to inside the castle. Very interesting reads inside there. Staff tell you what you need to know about the castle. Very reasonable prices for what they offer. Beautiful weather makes it look millions. Parking outside is excellent €2.50 for four hours parking or €1.50 for 2 hours. So you can head off into town without worry.

“Beautiful castle”

This is probably the best restored castle that we've seen in Ireland. Words can't describe the grandness. Beautiful grounds also with a little café outside.
