Just returned from a 2 night stay at Ballyroe and it was amazing from start to finish! The staff from reception, to bar, restaurant and the housekeeping staff could not have been more friendly and helpful - every one of them had a few words and a smile for us. The hotel itself is beautiful with stunning views of the Kerry landscape, and only 10 minutes in either direction to either Tralee or the amazing Banna Beach! Ballyroe Heights is a perfect location for a stay in Kerry and we will most definitely be back again

Away for a couple of days before the madness of back to school. This is my third Summer visiting Ballyroe but unfortunately my last. On check in we were given a room with a very strong smell of cigarette smoke. A bit of forward and back to reception and we were moved to another room. They later confirmed a previous occupant smoked in the room. Housekeeping should have reported that and the room be fully ventilated before being let out again.
The bed was like sleeping on a stone. I asked for a mattress topper for the bed as I had to fold my duvet in two and sleep on top of it the first night. No topper but they did put two duvets on the mattress. A bit better, not great.
The shower in my room was Boiling and could not be turned colder. Not a hope of standing under it. I asked a friend who was staying in another part of hotel and the showers there was fine. So depending on where your room is, the newer the shower. I was in room 41.
I can't believe I am the only person to notify the hotel of the problems with the bed or especially the shower. I had my 14 yr old with me and she couldn't shower either.
All in all a bad experience in Ballyroe. The 4.5 star TripAdvisor rating is proudly displayed in reception. They would want to up their standards considerably to keep that rating in the future.

When we entered the room we didn't find water to drink , called the reception and informed them said 5 euro to get tap water to the room as a service charge.. Not even a packaged drinking water available in the room upon check-in room..
Come on I've travelled to all the hotels, b n b's , lodges all have them provide water as a basic need to their guests..
Reception staff not helpful.
Disappointed

We had our wedding, ceremony included, at the Ballyroe Heights Hotel. Everything was perfect. The staff were excellent and couldnt do enough for us. Food was amazing and always hot. The hotel looked immaculate on the day and everything went smoothly. A huge thank you to jonathan, patrick and all the staff at the hotel for making our day even better.
