Went up Carrauntoohil on a beautiful sunny spring day with Piaras from Kerry climbing.
Stunning mountain and it really enhanced the trip to have someone so knowledgeable and passionate along to talk to about the area.

If you're nothing like us there's always this burning question "...do we need a guide?". Well I can tell you in this case you do. Not only is Devils Ladder the only way to ascend (from an experience point of view) but it's a whole lot more enjoyable and probably safer to do it with someone who knows every inch of it and in Piaris we had that. Not only that throughout the day we stopped along the way and got to hear a lot about the mountain, its evolution, its history and so much more so for the relatively small fee you'll pay its worth every €

You'll meet up at the Cronin Team Rooms and they'll make you a very nice cheese and ham sandwich to eat later if you want. You can get washed and showered there when you come back down too!

So if you're going to pick somebody to take you up pick these guys. Very easy to deal with when booking and Piaris was a great guide and good fun (he's also a member of the Kerry Mountain Rescue Team so not such a bad chap to have around). But the icing on the cake? He bought us all a Cadbury's Creme Egg for when we got to the top (as it was Easter) so there you go...FREE chocolate!!

It was an honour and joy to meet you both and a real pleasure to guide and show you the wonderful delights of these stunning mountains of Kerry. Well done on your successful ascent of Ireland's highest - Corrán Tuathail and really delighted you got such a gorgeous day for it too!!!

Glad you enjoyed the little token Easter egg and look forward to perhaps meeting you both again in the future on some other exciting mountain adventure.

Thank you for helping inform others with you glowing comments and for taking the time out to leave them.
Fun and humour in a safe and enjoyable way is what we aim and strive for and glad to hear you found these traits shining through. It was a tough challenge for sure and a real shame you didn't get to appreciate the amazing views but still we had a hugely satisfying and rewarding ascent and congratulations once again. It was a joy to meet and guide you and hopefully you will be back again in the not too distant future and the weather gods will be kinder next time.

Thank you again for the review, it is most graciously appreciated by Catherine and myself.

Piaras picked me up from my hostel at 9am on the button. From there he drove us to Cronin's Yard where we met a lovely family of 5 who were also part of the group. 7 hours of amazing memories something everyone should do! Highly recommend kerry climbing if you are considering this. Will definitely be back for other routes!

Thanks Piaras :)

Had a great day out with Piaras my guide for the day while we took on Ireland's highest!
We ascended via the Devils ladder and descended via the zig-zags. We were blessed with a fine day and the photos were picture perfect!
I would highly recommend Kerryclimbing to anybody!!
The local knowledge, flexibility, encouragement and friendliness are second to none.
