The Bricin was recommended by our driver from Killarney Chauffeur, but by the time we got settled in our hotel and decided that we *did* want to go there for dinner, we discovered that we were not going to be able to be seated before 9 pm. So, it's popular and it does not seat that many people -- but the host really did try to accommodate us as best he could (so, points for trying!).
The other reason to get a reservation is that they *do* run out of food! My wife managed to get the last bowl of one of their featured soups (and only because she lay claim to it while we were being seated; otherwise she knew it would be gone). She went on to order the lamb boxty from the menu, but by that point in the evening they had sold out of the lamb. Unfortunately, that was the only boxty she wanted, as one other had chicken and tarragon and she's not a big tarragon fan; a third was a vegetarian boxy but that didn't sound quite like what she wanted that night. She ended up having a meal that was quite tasty, but it wasn't the boxty she had been anticipating (me, I had the chicken and tarragon boxty, which was quite enjoyable and not at all overwhelmed by the tarragon).
