A wonderful surprise it was to discover Ard Bia snuggled up against the Spanish Arch downtown Galway.
The ambiance is delightful. I would sugest a reservation if you wish to eat between 11h30 and 13h30. . The Inn is opened from 10h30 to 15h30.There is an incredible choice offered on the menu. Try the hake and caper cakes or the power salad! Many of the products are local and organic. There are 4 choices of beer one cider and two wines:red and white house. A very creative place and a creative and happy group of people who serve you.

Very tasty meal. The restaurant is simple but very pretty with candlelight and looking over the river. The house wine was lovely and the meal was creative and very tasty. The coffee was particularly nice!

The food was fine, quite expensive. Felt the dark haired waitress to be rude. On arrival when we informed her that there would be 8 instead of 9 of us she wanted to fit us into a table which would normally seat 4! Rushed us through the whole sitting. Probably won't go again anytime soon.

Ard Bia is well worth planning ahead and making a reservation. Location at Spanish Arch is charming on the Galway Bay with swans and folks enjoy the lawn. Food was excellent. Fantastic Irish butter and brown bread welcome food. Then had excellent monkfish/seaweed dish, butter beans in fennel broth. Also ordered a very nice local Connemara sole with lentils and peas. Salad with figs was very fresh and tasty. Atmosphere is charming with old stone walls, small spaces and lively vibe but also quiet enough to hear one another!

I stopped by after walking along the water front for some breakfast. The staff were really friendly, thw service was quick and the food was delicious. I ordered the poached eggs with smashed avocado and pesto with a side of bacon.
