Stayed there last weekend with 3 young kids for the Christmas Market, youngest only 5 months old. Was send to the other side of the hotel with only 1 small lift and looked like only us around because we never met anyone else there. Our room was on 4th floor, when you get out of the lift it has few steps up to the room, it’s ridiculous to send a family with buggy to there! The room was big but only has a small window with no view and the room is bit outdated and you can smell the old…The heat NEVER on ALL NIGHT! It was only on at the morning, and NO hot water for the shower, it’s too cold for the kids! We can only had shower at the club after swimming next morning. Talked to the staff at front desk and he said will “try” to upgrade us to the sea view room for free when we back next time…
The swimming pool is the only fabulous thing in the hotel. Breakfast is a buffet which was ok but not many choices. Over rated and over priced doesn't deserve 4 stars not good enough for the cost.

Underwhemling stay in the Salthill Hotel. No complementary water in bedrooms. We had to purchase water from the vending machine on the 3rd floor. We stayed 2 nights and there was no housekeeping, no fresh towels during stay or bins changed ( not ideal when you have small kids). Bedrooms were very clean though and gorgeous sea view. No kids club or playroom. Staff were nice and food was good in the bar but service in bar extremely slow. Pool area lovely but sauna out of service. Overall not worth the 150 a night and not very family friendly.

Check in was quick and smooth, reception area was impressive. Our room was spacious but cold, despite 3 complaints to reception nothing was done, in fact the only way we could heat up was to run as hot a bath as possible and soak for as long as possible. The prom restaurant was also cold, in fact some people were dining with their coats on. The service in the dining room was good but the menu choice was limited especially the main course, and i thought the 10euro supplement for steak was excessive. The bar was also cold, coats were being worn by guests here too. The service in the bar was very poor and when your order was eventually taken it took ages to get it. The breakfast was excellent, self service and plenty of choice. Didnt use the leisure facilities so i dont have any comment here. The hotel is ideally located on the Salthill prom with a bus stop outside the door to take you to Galway.

Super location right on the seafront, and our spacious room overlooked the sea. Choice of pillows and large fluffy towels helped to make our stay comfortable.
The breakfast offer was rather limited (no hash browns or mushrooms, no choice of yogurt, or of bread apart from standard toast and soda bread). And in these covid times, I would have expected more individual servings of yogurt, cereal, fruits etc. rather than the large, open bowls.
There was a large wedding party one afternoon, which effectively meant the spacious and comfortable foyer was inaccessible. We had been planning to meet with family there, as it is a large and inviting area, but all seating was occupied and too many wedding guests were not wearing masks, so no such meeting was possible.
This should and could have been a delightful stay, but unfortunately was marred by these issues; what a shame.
