Great hotel, friendly staff
Booked a room for 2 nights . The room was perfect with basic room and bathroom amenities. COVID guidelines followed to the T. Just a hop to the Xmas market . Great breakfast for 10€ pp
Great bargain shops and local cuisines in walking distance, will def recommend and visit in future

So we'll start with the good points and the only reason I gave them 2 stars. The location was ideal, we couldn't be closer to everything, the room was lovely and clean with a comfortable bed, and the shower in the bathroom was ideal.
The bad points - the staff here are unbelievably incompetent. I have never been greeted at a hotel front desk by someone as clearly uninterested and basically useless as I was at this hotel. Everything was so slow, simple things had to be explained multiple times, and it was obvious she did not have a clue how to do her job. It was the longest check in experience I have ever had, and I was really surprised that a busy hotel like the Imperial would be like this. All staff we encountered during our stay were of similar attitude. To top it all off, 20 mins before check out a member of what I presume was the housekeeping staff walked straight into our room while we were obviously still there. Check out was 11, our room should not have been entered before this time.
An enjoyable trip to Galway, with a disappointing hotel stay.
This hotel is in an exceptional area especially for the Christmas markets. There was an issue with the fire alarms during our stay but the staff were brilliant and the manager handled the issue very well - very professional level of staff. This alone would make me come back to this hotel. The room was also absolutely spotlessly clean.

I would highly recommend NOT staying here. Our Experience went from bad to worse. Myself and my partner were staying here Thursday night. When checking in, the receptionists were not wearing masks which I thought was extremely careless and were kind of nice but didn’t really seem to care at all. Our Room was okay, pretty average.
When eating in the hotel’s restaurant for dinner, all of the staff were so rude. There was 1 nice waiter named Cian ((which I had to ask for his name as nobody was wearing name tags)). I used to work in a hotel, so I always try to be as nice as possible to staff because I know how it can be dealing with people all day; but the staff were talking about other customers in front of us which is extremely unprofessional and rude. Everyone was very rude throughout except for the 1 waiter and a man I assume is the manager of the restaurant. We just wanted to eat our food and leave. They tried to double charge us for our drinks as we were served by about 4 different waiters which was not ideal either. The food was average. To top it all off- at 12am, we were sound asleep and were woken up by our fire alarm going off. We went to call reception multiple times about this but- no answer. On our way down to reception to see what was going on, we met other guests who said it was happening in their room too and reception said they would fix it. Which did not happen for at least an hour. Keeping us from sleeping.
This Hotel Seriously needs to invest in some customer service training for 99% of their staff and/or get new staff who are at least slightly friendly and nice to their guests. Ignorant and rude staff is all we got when staying here except for 1 nice waiter.
Will never be staying here again. Staying further away from Eyre Square is worth not having to deal with the staff at this hotel.
This hotel was absolutely wonderful, second to none, what made it for us were the staff, they made us feel so welcome, especially Olga and David, they're a credit to ye, also great location too, we'll definitely be back
First this review dates back to May 2019 before COVID. Sorry for the delay.
We were on a 14 day G Adventures tour of Ireland and Galway was our first stop after leaving Dublin. Regretfully they no longer provide this Eire tour having changed it to one that includes North Ireland.
The hotel is strategically located at the edge of town facing a square. By turning right after leaving the hotel entrance and then right again, you enter the streets of the old town and can walk all the way to the river. Across from the hotel also to the right is a mall where you can find parts of the original city walls, and around the back is the old church/monastery.
The hotel is made up of connected buildings to provide adequate rooms for the facility. As such we had a fair walk to our room which was located at the back. It consisted of a large room with two double beds, a bathroom with tub-shower, TV, desk, sitting table and chairs. We had one window looking out to the back over to the old church and a parking area. The rooms were very clean and well maintained.
Services included a breakfast room (continental breakfast was provided but was not great) except for the soda bread) and a bar-lounge and restaurant. We ate there one night and enjoyed the meal.
We found the hotel and warm and friendly place to stay for a few nights and would recommend it to travellers.
