“"Second visit.... It just gets better"”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 October 2011

Simon is the name of one of the two owners ... He's a cool dude and knows his wines. Tonight with a group of three friends I had the house special penne with chicken in a parmesan cream sauce ... The rest of the group enjoyed everything from pizza to Pasta. Simon suggested the Pinot Grigio @ €19...... what a night... Great food... Service and vino ... Total bill under € 70.... it's small but wonderful ..Need to book... That's the only drawback...

“Wow!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 October 2011

So, from the outside this place does not look like much. A remarkable unassuming place. Then you taste the food, wow! So reasonable and so tasty, we'll be back!

“A little piece of Italy in the heart of Galway”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 October 2011

If you love Italian food you'll love Venice. It's a small restaurant and as one of the previous reviewers said you may think you've made a mistake when you enter, but what it lacks in expensive decor it makes up for it in bucket loads for the quality of the food. The best pizza I've tasted in Ireland by far. I'll definitely be going back. Very reasonably priced as well.

“Bland”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 October 2011

Went here for lunch and was disappointed. The restaurant is very small with tables very close together making for an uncomfortable setting. Our food was poor and bland and very disappointing. I got the spaghetti which was less than memorable and my GF got pizza which was fine. the service was slow and indifferent. Can't help think that there was better places to choose from in Galway for lunch.

“Small, but perfectly formed pizzeria. Child friendly.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 October 2011

Venice Cafe, despite its size, serves the best little pizzas in town. I gather that the chef moved from a very well-known Italian restaurant in Salthill after five years of experience. He brings with him paper-thin pizza bases cooked in a ferociously hot oven with minimal sauce: just as it would be in Naples. Children's menu includes very generously sized pizzas for 4:50 euro and they don't mind (and don't charge for!!!) what the child wants to pile on top! The whole bill for a family of five (adults pizza and salad each, no drinks) was 43 euro: for the best pizzas in town. Whilst the service was a tad slow (one oven was being used for lasagnes at the time), this was fantastic value all round. Ci ritorneremo.
