I've been going to Bow Lane for the past few years, and it's steadily becoming worse and worse.
We visited on Sunday 21st April for Drag Brunch for my Mothers birthday. We booked a table for 8 people. The food in Bow Lane has always been bad, the last time I went - both myself and a friend ordered the fish cakes (now removed from the menu). When they arrived, they were stone cold. Like, 100% raw.
Due to this, I wouldn't eat in here any more. We go to Bow Lane for Drag Brunch as the Queens are great, not for the food!
Before, there was a specification to say at least 2 people at the table need to order main courses, which is fine.
However, when we arrived this week - we noticed that every person at the table MUST order a main worth €16, if you don't - you'll still be charged this amount!!!!!!!
On top of that, the menu has shrunk - considerably.
There's a whole 5 things to choose from. Five. 2 of which - a curry, and a Southern Fried burger and chips - are hardly typical brunch food.
Where's the chicken wings? Fish cakes? French toast?
We told the waitress we didn't want food and we were told we would all still be charged 18 euro per head. Upon hearing this, we told them we would vacate the table and sit at the bar - in a 40% full restaurant. We were told "on this occasion we could stay"
My uncle ordered huevos rancheros which could only be described as regoregitated beans and dried up eggs, the chips were totally hollow inside!
Needless to say, none of us will be returning to Bow Lane. You would honestly find better food in a bin. Only a matter of time before it's shut down, hopefully Drag Brunch will move to a more suitable venue!
