“Great food, service and atmosphere”

The Old Spot was abuzz with the conversation of happy and contented diners when we arrived about 8 on a Tuesday evening. The service is professional, attentive and unobtrusive. The food excellent - we had the salted beef, the Old Spot Burger and fabulous pan-fried hake from the specials menu - clean plates all round - the rioja was perfect accompaniment.

“Not too sure”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 week ago via mobile

Mixed feeling I have after the lunch in Old Spot after today's lunch.
Food was really quick which not a good sign but was nice. Portion was small and I was still hungry after the fish and chips. I know if you are hungry you should order couple of courses, just to compare to Dublin's other lunch spots to Old spot the price and the quantity is just not good enough. €15,50 for a small main I think its expensive. Service was really nice though.

“Sunday Lunch”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 weeks ago via mobile

Five of us enjoyed the lunch, I shared cote de boeuf €37 was good value, cooked med/rare. The veg could've been more exciting. Burnt spuds, cauliflower drowned in cream cheese, carrots were delicious. Others had fish and chips (ling), ok were the sounds coming from that corner, and other guest had two starters, pork croquette and then cured trout which he loved and devoured. Desserts nice, chocolate fondant needs to be bigger! Lemon curd and pan a cotta were shared and enjoyed by all. OS not overly pricey, good service, pleasant surrounds. I'd come back for the beef, and desserts!

“Excellent Service, great Food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 weeks ago

over a 3 day period of eating lunch and dinner in Dublin the old spot topped the lot, tue night and the place was packed, but instead of just say ' were booked out' we were offered a seat in the bar to have a drink until a table came available or if we wanted to eat in the bar we could, we had a drink as I like the restaurant buss,
what an excellent waiter we had, he explained how busy it was that night and they were just serving the mains to a table of 50 upstairs so our order would be a little delayed to start off, which was fine with us as we were told this, the company was good so time flies anyway, every course I had was Divine with very good presentation, well done to the old spot, ye Deserve every success.

“Noisy but nice”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Good range of locally source food - well cooked and very tasty with a good range of menus. Beers and wines available in what is a bit of a gastro pub. Noisy environment and not in the least intimate.
