Marys's bar is a few steps from Grafton street, just opposite side door of Brown Thomas store. Walking in is like stepping back in time, hardware items hang on one wall opposite the main bar, don't be intimidated by small space as you enter, just keep going back or downstairs , lots of space and food served downstairs also (Burger bar).
The staff are incredible, so friendly to everyone, full of locals and tourists mingling over pints and the two Shanes behind the bar kept the banter going throughout the evening. The hardware items are not just for fun, they actually sell everything on the shelves, so if you are in need of a hard hat or a box of nails you will be able to get them get them on your way out after your pint!
We were there on New Years eve which was unfortunately a wet night in Dublin but Shane Snr. allowed us borrow an umbrella to get us back to our hotel, we returned it the following morning and the two Shanes were still there smiling and still full of banter.
There are many very nice pubs in this area of Dublin city but it would be hard to find one with the character of Marys or the personality of the staff here, pay it a visit.
It will definitely be our local when in the city!
