Owner description: The Merry Ploughboy is the only pub in Ireland owned and managed by musicians, and it is the 'hands on' approach from the owners that makes a visit to the Merry Ploughboy the highlight of many people's trip to Ireland. The two hour Irish music & Irish dancing show (which takes place nightly at the pub) has been awarded "Best Dinner/Entertainment Event in Ireland" and the pub is the current "Music Pub of the Year" in Ireland. Owners and musicians, The Merry Ploughboys, have been performing together for 25 years making their show the longest running show in Ireland hosted continuously by the same performers. The pub is located about 20 minutes south of Dublin City centre with complimentary car parking. It is easily accessed by taxi or if you are staying in the city centre we recommend our shuttle transfer service (just 7.50 euro return fare). The transfer by luxury executive coach offers an elevated view of the scenic Southside of Dublin city. After the show, the coach will drop you back as close as practical to your accommodation. Reservations are essential, however online bookings for the dinner & show (and shuttle transfer if required) can be made in real-time on our own website. We operate a "ticketless" booking system. You will receive a unique booking reference number on your email receipt and our floor manager will have all your details when you arrive at the pub.

I have been to the Merry Plowboys many times on my visits to Dublin over the past 15 years. They are the best.

The show is great and a lot of fun. The boys are very talented and keep the showing going.

Food is also excellent and the Guiness is fresh. What’s not to like.

After the show head down stairs to the bar and stay a while. The singing and Guiness will continue. You will feel welcome and join in.

If you want to feel the love and fun of the Irish, have great food and drink. You have to go to the show. You will not be disappointed.

Thank David W

The food was exquisite, the music and show was professional. They kept the energy high and the dancers were above average.
We really enjoyed the evening there and we recommend it to all.

Booked the dinner/show directly from the venue’s website.
Dinner was great - you are able to enjoy your meal while the band plays traditional Irish songs. Once dinner is done, the dancers perform.
Overall a great value and a bucket list must.
The place is ran by the very people who owns it. They offer the option of scheduling a shuttle after the show.

We were in a tour group of 37 that attended. We were immediately ushered to our tables and orders were soon taken. All total in the upstairs must have 100 and everyone had a good seat. The Merry Ploughboys knew how to entertain and they did it. Almost every song had some audience participation. Our group enjoyed their performance: musicians and dancers. The waitresses brought around drinks and great Irish comfort food. I would recommend anyone staying in Dublin should make one night a visit to the Merry Ploughboys

We brought a large group of visitors here and from the warm welcome as we arrrived until we left, we couldn't have been better looked after.

The food was delicious, the service first class and the show by the amazingly talented musicians and dancers was fantastic.

A real must to visit.
