Michael picked us up right on time after we arrived in Dublin on the cruise ship Celebrity Infinity in August , Michael is a very safe and careful driver and his automobile (Audi A8) is extremely comfortable. Our full day tour included the Wicklow mountains and Powerscourt Gardens. We also stopped at the Avoca Mills where we observed the old way of weaving, had lunch and purchased some great woolen items. Michael's tour was the highlight of our two day visit to Dublin and we highly recommend Michael for this tour!
Our tour of Wicklow & Powerscourt with Michael was our second (i.e., he previously took us to Boyne Valley). This was every bit amazing. We stopped along the way off the beaten track of tour busses, including various movie locations (the bridge in the opening scene of "P.S. I Love You." and a view of the lake and shore for the TV series, "The Vikings." Plus, there were other lookout photo-op stops throughout the day. Without a doubt, Michael is THE BEST tour guide in the area, and your trip will simply not be complete without one of his incredible private tours.
We had only one day in Dublin after a cruise and decided to take the scenic Wicklow Tour with Michael who made our day very enjoyable. Our choice was to see the Irish country side and we certainly did. The car was very comfortable and Michael a knowledgeable and charming guide who tried hard to accommodate our needs.
We had the luck of the Irish for sure when we spent the day with Michael! He was knowledgeable, accommodating and charming. We were a threesome - two women and a 9 year old girl - and enjoyed our time immensely. Mountain views, a hike down to a lovely lake, seeing a peat bog, visiting a woolen mill, the abbey ruins, and gardens! Learning and having fun and taking so many photos (all 3 of us with cameras - Michael was very patient!). I would suggest Michael and this outing to anyone wanting to see a bit of the Irish countryside, and should my journeys bring me back to the Dublin area, I would absolutely sign up with Michael again.
We were on a day trip in the Dublin area. Our ship had docked and since four of us had toured the city on previous trips, Michael's tour to the Boyne Valley was intriguing. Our friend had done research and found Michael's references. What a lucky find. He met us at the pier and made sure to return on time for the afternoon departure. The highlight of a trip into the Boyne Valley is the tomb at Newgrange a UNESCO site. The number of daily visitors is limited and cruise ships can not access it.
The burial mound at Newgrange was started before the Egyptian pyramids. The construction and alignment with the sun is a marvel. It is hard not to get a chill upon entering the tomb with the guide. I guarantee that this is a visit to rank high in anyone's travel experiences.
We continued on and visited the Celtic crosses and remains of the monasteries at Monasterboice. We also climbed the Hill of Tara where Celtic kings were crowned and provided a vista of the incredible countryside. Later in the day we passed the site of the Battle of Boyne a seminal event in Ireland's history. Michael's explanations were essential to our understanding of all these sights since our knowledge was minimal.
Michael exudes the warmth and friendliness for which the Irish are famous. We weren't sure how to fit lunch into the day. He suggested a restaurant or picking up sandwiches and eating them at his home in the area. The four of us were relieved to eat a light meal after the meals on the ship, we opted for the latter. We were awed by his hospitality. His wife had set the table. Michael's garden and labyrinth are beautiful. As we drove back, he pointed to the houses of his relatives (seemed to be quite a few) who live nearby.

Michael Fox by far made our trip to Ireland simply perfect! Now I asked him to plan a tour for my husband and I that was fully up to him, I just let him know some of our like and dislikes, he asked questions, (this was all in emailing prior to our arrival) so I put a lot into Michaels hands right out of the gate. We were picked up in a beautiful nice Audie, he was waiting for us outside at our hotel and we set off on our day of awesomeness! We started off visiting Newgrange tombs it was magnificent! Michael could have easily been a tour guide there. EVERYONE knows him, and he took us on our own private tour through the museum part telling us all about everything. It was an amazing experience for myself. From there we visited Bective Abbey, where he taught us the history of the abbey and he taught us about the flowers of Ireland. We went to the most beautiful cemetery called Monasterboice; it was filled with incredible Celtic crosses. It was so crazy! Big rooks, which are like huge crows or ravens, had their nests in the tall tress, but it was so peaceful and calming. I got great photos from this cemetery. Along the drive and to every next destination the more Michael got to know us, the more custom our tour became. He would take us off on little historical side trips! We saw so much I could write for days! Ok, after a few cool battle fields, abbeys and more treasures we went to Fourknocks. Now this was another tomb but private and amazing and you can take all the photos you want. We even got to climb on top of the tomb itself. The view was incredible. It’s all extremely private! It is a must see for me! After Lunch and afternoon tea, we went to Mainistir Bheigti where there was a dog-named Jake that joined us on our tour lol! They filmed some of braveheart here nonetheless it was really cool. It’s hard to explain how incredible all these places are in writing! We from here went on to a few castles. Now I love animals, and Michael took us out of the way to a little place that had a couple animals that I could feed. I missed my dogs so he wanted to make me to get a fix! That shows you the lengths he goes to, just to make it that special of an experience for you. The day wound down and before we knew it we had been gone for 9 hours (we ran over and there was NO problem). So back to our hotel he took us. And I will have that day with me for the rest of my life. I rarely write reviews, but Michael Fox made us feel like dear old friends and made my trip to Ireland a HUGE success. We could never thank him enough, a true pro! Thanks you so much AGAIN Michael!
Please keep in mind most of these places had no tour guide or where closed for off season, but we didn’t need one! If anything I am so thankful to Michael for being so well informative on where he takes you. It saves so much time. Plus I would grantee he would know more then most people who worked there anyway! If you want a high-end, enriched life experience, then book this man and I can grantee he will make your trip priceless!
