I organised a charity cycle from Cork to Dublin in July 2015 and we stayed at the Ballsbridge Hotel.
Michael, the Manager, could not have been more helpful and arranged immediately for our bikes to be stored in a secure room upon arrival.
We arrived late in the evening and were the last to order and leave the restaurant. Despite our lateness, the restaurant staff were brilliant and looked after us very well. Also, 25 euro for a very good 3 course meal is exceptional value in D4.
After our meal we were able to relax in the large and comfortable bar with a couple of hard earned drinks!
I would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for quality service in D4.

We had stayed down for the Ed Sheeran concert and online this hotel looked perfect the pictures online looked great and very modern however when we arrived it was not what we expected! For the amount we paid to stay in this hotel for two nights the facilities were pathetic, the lack of customer service and help we received as tourists was not great. When we arrived there were four receptionists standing behind the front desk not one of them was welcoming. We had to wait at least 10 minutes before one of them decided to check us in, this wasn't due down to being overwhelmed by customers as we were the only couple checking in! Finally after we checked in it was like a maze to find our hotel room never mind the signage didn't contain all the room numbers on them and a member of the hotel staff didn't care to show us where we should go or help in any way. We did find our room after a few trips on the lift, we had booked a double deluxe room and instead of our 'queen size bed' this consisted of two single beds pushed together, the smell of the room was awful never mind the decor it did not look like anything on the pictures. The tea and coffee facilities were dreadful never mind the restroom facilities. On the positive side the breakfast facilities were fantastic a great selection for all especially for €10 and The Dubliner (the hotel bar) was very clean and the service we received in there was great. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, I would definitely go back to Dublin again however stay in a different hotel!

Dear Lynette,

Thank you for your review and you comments about your stay. I am disappointed that you did not fine a number of the key elements of it o your satisfaction .....particularly the unhelpfulness of the staff which is normally a big Plus for us here.

I am glad that like many others you found the breakfast to be top notch.

Regards

Michael

I had originally booked a stay here for 8 days, between June 27 and July 5. Due to a cancelled flight, we arrived here one day late, and it was obvious from the start that this was a hotel that bore little resemblance to the one advertised on the hotel's web site. This hotel has definitely seen better days. There was not a surface that didn't have nicks and dents in it. The first room we got had, among other "beauty flaws", a cracked sink. We asked to change rooms and got a new one, but it was as worn and tired as the first one.
It is hard to pick one single thing as the worst feature of this hotel. Here are a few contenders: My son got flea bites all over his body after sleeping one night in one of Ballsbridge's beds; the stifling heat and lack of ventilation in the room and hallways of the hotel - every time you left the hotel you were surprised by the cool to chilly Dublin summer temperatures, since staying in this hotel you would have thought that a heat wave had seized Dublin.

We tried to change hotels, but a lot of other hotels in the area were fully booked for July 1, including this one. By the way, they charged a whopping 369 euro for that particular night. This was probably because there was an AC/DC concert at nearby Aviva Stadium. Quite a few of the concertgoers were staying at Ballsbridge and there was also a radio station broadcasting pre-concert from the hotel parking lot, blasting music from their loudspeakers. There was no information about this inconvenience for hotel guests that were not AC/DC fans.

We finally managed to leave this fleabag hotel and move to a better one on July 2. I wish I could say that the hotel staff were attentive and concerned about our complaints, but no, not really. They couldn't care less.

I visited Ballsbridge Hotel on a week-long business trip to Dublin. My room must have been one of the refurbished ones---clean, spacious, with a large, comfortable bed and otherwise well furnished. Most of the rooms, mine including, overlook the rather ugly roof of the attached conference venue.

WiFi is free here these days, and while it worked fine in the mornings, half the evenings it was sluggish or wouldn’t connect at all.

Breakfasts have a decent variety---a full Irish offering, with the addition of some cheese, meats and fruit salad. Personally I wish they included more fresh vegetables.

All of the staff representatives I dealt with were pleasant, helpful and attentive. No complaints here.

Overall, I’m satisfied with the stay. Didn’t notice any different treatment for business or non-business travelers either. There seem to be a lot of pensioner tourist groups visiting, not too disturbing normally other than a few times I witnessed them being unable to correctly operate the lifts.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights with our fellow travellers from Trafalgar Tours, our room was spacious and clean.
The food at breakfast was nicely presented and of good quality.
Although we were on a tour this hotel is ideally situated and not too far from the city centre.
