I took some colleagues from overseas to visit the Garda Museum in Dublin Castle and found that it was reeking in history. This is situated in the "Records Tower" and the one remaining part of the original Dublin Castle and has been handed over to the Garda, the Irish national police service. It is crammed full of memoribilia and the connections with the previous police forces and their links to the current one are clearly established. We were guided by the curator, a serving officer, who was full of knowledge and quite entertaining. He described characters and events with vivid descriptions and made the visit a success. This is a small museum but is well worth the effort.
