It's a Dublin hotel, it will be pricey, but it's okay

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 5 weeks ago
Firstly, it's a hotel in Dublin, it's going to be expensive. It's a hotel whose main attraction is proximity to the airport, it's going to be expensive.

The reviews were very mixed but my honest assessment is that it is a good to average property for the Dublin price, between 3 and 4 stars if that was an option. Our room was clean, even under the bed (I looked because I dropped something). There were the usual tea and coffee making facilities plus complimentary water and one packet of biscuits (come on Maldron, there are two guests so don't be quite so cheap!). The shower was a little erratic in holding temperature but otherwise fine. There was some water egress, as evidenced by the water damage to the foot of the door, but nothing major.

The hotel is a maze and you have to keep an eye out for the signs guiding you, they're not always obvious.

The bar was pleasant and the breakfast selection very good if, again, a bit pricey at €18 per person. All the staff I interacted with were pleasant and friendly.

The hotel has a shuttle but it was no more than a 5-10 minute walk to the airport, depending on which terminal, so I never used it.

Communication from the hotel was good and after doing online check-in I find the process of connecting my key from a kiosk easy.

All in all my stay was perfectly fine and if I needed to stay in this location again I would come back here without worrying about it.
Date of stay: September 2024
Room Tip: It's a maze, make sure you remember how to get to your room.

The good - the hotel is very close to the airport. If you rent a car from the airport, you can walk from the car rental return to this hotel in a few minutes. Secondly, I slept well. Now for the bad part. The room smelled like an old basement. It was musty and moldy smelling. It was bad enough that we asked them to move us to a slightly better room. Both rooms were in the nouveau shabby style. The first room had picture hooks on white walls with no pictures on them. The furniture in the second room had sections of the cheap veneer missing. The shower dumped gallons of water on the floor. The carpet was not clean at all. The whole hotel smelled a bit like an arena. The only place to get ice was the bar and they didn’t have a lot of interest in getting a paper cup of it for me. The front desk staff was very nice and helpful. Unfortunately, when they are working with this hotel, there is only so much they can do to make it better.

Dear Dylan,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. While I wish you had a better experience, it is feedback like this that we learn from and use to improve. We work hard to deliver an exceptional guest experience, and it's apparent in this case that we fell short. If you give us a chance to earn back your trust, I can assure you that we will do our best to give you the great hotel experience that so many of our guests have grown so fond of.
Sincerely,
Martynas

The photos of this hotel are deceiving, the building has been particularly renovated on the inside but is in disrepair. The room was mostly clean but very old and in need of improvements. The shower did not drain properly, the furniture was cheap and heavy worn with stains both in our room and the lobby. There is mildew on the bathroom ceiling and the carpets were grimy. The staff was limited and it was challenging to get them to help directly & promoted the self check in/out system. The bar was limited and food in the restaurant subpar. If you’re looking for a place to crash before your flight, it may serve you, but I believe they’re better options close to the airport.

Run. If you just want anywhere as close as possible to the airport that’s one thing. If you want a nice hotel don’t stay here. The pictures of the hotel look great, in person it’s depressing and is like a college dorm. Everything is grey. The hallways are grey with short ceilings and the halls are like a maze. The rooms are grey, drab and small. And the tub in my room had two rusting screws at the bottom of the tub. Why they were in there I have no idea but would need a tetanus shot if used. All I can say is look for a nice hotel a little further out b

I'm not sure what other people except from a hotel but when we arrived we noticed it has a modern look inside not so much outside but it's clean and adequate, unexpected cost of early check in of €30 even though we paid almost €500 for 2 nights, the room is clean, basic but clean and the bed was really comfortable, the bathroom was also clean and did the job we needed, we didn't see any dirt or filth anywhere in our room, the only thing that bothered me was the price, it's far to expensive for what it is, yes clean and convenient but overpriced, for this reason I won't stay here again unless it was cheaper

Room tip: Get the number 41 bus from opposite McDonald's if your going into the city, much cheaper than taxis and they don't take the p***

My family stayed in Dublin the last night of our trip. We arrived early, but only had one room available. We were trying to do a few tours before flying out the next day. Diogo was able to get us the other 2 rooms early. There was a miscommunication as to who got which room. I received the family room instead of a queen room with my brother and his family accidentally receiving my room. We had already paid for the rooms but Diogo was able to flip the rooms with minimal difficulty allowing us to get into Dublin and do our tours. He provided outstanding service! I highly recommend this hotel. The staff is fantastic!

Room tip: It is an older hotel. The elevator is very small, but fast. The staff will help you with anything and make the place great!
