Owner description: Dublin Castle was for 700 years the seat of British power in Ireland. Today you can still view the remains of the 13th century structure as part of the guided tour. The present Dublin Castle dates from the mid 1700's and today is used by the Irish Governemnt for state events such as the inauguration of the Irish President and state banquets for visiting dignatories. Amongst the highlights are the Ladies Drawing Room, the Throne Room and St. Patricks Hall.

We visited the castle this morning and paid the extra €3 each for the guided tour (which lasted a little over an hour) - well worth it. You get to see the underground castle ruins and inside the chapel as well as getting your own tour guide - our guide James was great. We also looked round the majesty exhibition which was interesting and the gardens which are well maintained. I have to say it’s one of best attractions we’ve seen on our trip.

The Castle is easy to get to and there were no queues - we were able to get round in about an hour but we had hoped for mor exhibits - all interesting with history of the Rebellion and characters who played major parts - rooms are elegant - worth a visit but don't expect too much.

A most entertaining and educational guided tour. The guides name was (among several) Richard. He took us with a firm hand through the different periods and related them to the audience by reffering to links to dfferent nationalities. A nice touch with his «servant». You must take the tour to find out for yourselves what that means. I can highly recommend this tour to all

Our guide was very well versed on the history of the castle which makes the experience much more worth it. Other wise you are just walking around beautifully ornate rooms with very little knowledge as to what, where, why, and how. Also with the guided tour you get to see the excavated and preserved ruins of the original castle from ancient times which you can not gain access to if you do a self guided tour.
