A very warm welcome, great rooms, lovely bar downstairs with very friendly staff. A 30 min walk roughly to the centre which we didn't mind and a taxi was €10. Very good value for money and overall pleased with the stay.

We were satisfied with accomodation. Clean room, jug kettle, teas and coffee for free in the room. pleasant staff. Good surroundings, lot of restaurant and pubs. Outside of a hotel shuttle bus stop for Dublin sightseeing.

Just stayed for 2 nights and can say it's perfect! Cozy, very clean and rooms very warm. Good service, good breakfast and excellent food.
The Bar is very irish and welcome. The Hotel is very close to city center and train station...so it was easy to visit the place I was wanted.
I had all attention I needed from the hotel, all the staffs from the hotel are very friendly and welcome. Make my stay very good.. they give me all attention since the first moment I arrived till I go...everyone very, very friendly. For sure I will be back soon and stay again. I recommend 😉

This hotel should be closed down, gutted and refurbished yesterday. It’s a shame as it is in a great location and the staff are friendly. Really lets the surrounding amenities and staff down. It’s in severe dire need of a revamp, it’s old, grotty and frankly dirty. It actually may not be that dirty, but as everything is so old and worn it can’t help but look any other way. The rooms are small and poky. Old grotty furniture with a tiny dirty window hidden back corner of the room. The bed and pillow were really uncomfortable. The hotel uses old bed clothes. The room was not warm. The corridors are old, creaky and uncomfortably tight to get around (I’m a small person). It felt like a place you’d rent by the hour. I did not feel safe at all. I would never stay there again and would strongly urge others not to. Disappointing is an understatement.

This would not have been my first choice of hotel in Ballsbridge but a friend made the booking and then didn't show up!
First the positives. The location is good, Ballsbridge is a lovely area with good shops and restaurants and it's not far to grab a cab into town. There is parking to the front of the hotel. I had no trouble getting a spot. The receptionist was friendly.
I was on the second floor (no lift was indicated). Some of the hotel decoration seems to have been updated (e.g., nice opaque glass door panels) and others not - namely my room. This reminded of an Irish hotel room from 20 years ago (as I'm Irish I think I can say that!). The net curtains had paint on them - clearly they hadn't been taken down when the room was being painted. The skirting boards were filthy and the carpet was tired, fading in spots. The bathroom was small - the loo situated so close to the wall, it was unclear how one should manoeuvre on to it. The shower pressure was fine and there was plenty of hot water, but there were long black hairs on the tiles. These were SO obvious, I don't know how they were missed.
The major problem was a party. After a long day of travelling and visiting, it was extremely loud and I was annoyed by that. I did ring the reception, who said that they weren't sure they could do anything about it. Although the guy was nicely spoken, it felt like there was no-one in charge. Eventually the music got turned down at 12.30, but I think that's unreasonable for paying guests.
All in all, it's a mixed bag - an old building can be charming - this one needs a deep clean, some fresh paint, new curtains and a reasonable approach to party guests/hotel guests (most places do an 11pm shut-off or have soundproofing).

The Landsdowne was a great hotel - clean rooms and bathrooms, friendly staff, good bar downstairs... our only complaint would be the location. We thought we had read reviews saying it was in a great location, but I would disagree. It was about a 15-20 minute walk to the heart of Dublin. Don't get me wrong, there's a number of restaurants and pubs near the hotel, but we were hoping to be closer to downtown.
If you're not looking to be close to everything in Dublin, this is a great hotel, but if you want to be closer to the action, this isn't the place for you.
