Pretty amazing place to stay. Our room was nice but had some issues that needed to be taken care of. The shower was a problem in that it couldn't be turned off and on very easily. Also, there was not way to charge up our electronics as the plugs were few and far between and didn't work very well, which was a problem when we were heading for the airport. We did enjoy the castle itself and the experience. We ate at the restaurant, which was delicious. Service was nice but they were so busy that we got forgotten some of the time. Our room backed up to the rear of the castle where the employees talk and smoke, which was annoying at night. All in all, we would do it again.

Room Tip: The less expensive rooms look at the back where the employees go to talk and smoke.

We spent two nights at the Clontarf Castle as part of a short trip to Ireland. We were planning to stay in the city centre but all the hotels there were ridiculously expensive (due to the Dublin marathon being on), so we opted to enjoy some luxury at the Clontarf Castle for less money than basic hotels in the city centre.

The hotel is not far from the city centre and easily accessible from the airport. A taxi ride into the city was around 10E and there is also a bus route nearby. The location is good and Clontarf itself is a nice residential waterfront area, with nice walking options (and we even walked all the way into the city one day from there).

The hotel is certainly impressive from outside, with the historic building being considerately enhanced by recent modern extension and renovation. The reception area was definitely imposing, beautifully done (though do we really need the heads of dead animals as decoration?). Our room was very well furnished, comfortable and clean.

As an alternative to cookie cutter franchise hotels, this is a great option and we enjoyed our stay here - genuinely something different and still convenient enough for city sightseeing.

Very nice hotel with an amazing staff. We had arrived early in the morning after flying in an over night flight and we were exhausted.

The staff did everything they could to make us feel welcome and accommodate us the best they could, including checking in quite early.

Great breakfast and comfy rooms.

Highly recommend based on accommodations and the staff.
