“Great way to see (and get around!) the city!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 March 2012

We used this tour as a way to see all the main attractions around Dublin (and I'm not going to lie - also as a way of getting around the city!) My partner and I were in Dublin for four days and did the tour for the first two days. We got our ticket through our hotel, 16 Euros per person for two days. It is a really good way of visting all the major attractions, especially the ones that are a little out the way of Central Dublin. Being hop on hop off, we did a whole circuit to start with and then went back on over the next two days to visit the attractions. However, as I mentioned, it is also a great way to travel around the city generally and is also a good way to familiarise yourself with Dublin. After the two days, we knew our way around the city and made our own way around for the days after. The drivers on the live tours are really informative and bring the commentary to life in a, enjoyable and funny way. The recorded tours take a more traditional approach. I would certainly recommend doing both if you have the time (this is not to say the drivers on the live tours are not informative, they are! It's just good to get two perspectives). We also got a leaflet with a small discount to some of the attractions and restaurants.

Overall - very worthwhile, enjoyable and good value for money tour. Pick up the leaflet with money saving coupons!!!

“Very informative”

got 2 toours, one with a pre recorded tape and the other a live tour from the bus driver Gregg. He is a legend and knew everything about the cities attractions. He also had the best sense of humour I have ever seen from any driver.

“A godway to see Dublin. Good value and drivers are informative and funny”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 March 2012

Spent the morning seeing the city and deciding what sights to visit later. All the drivers we came across were very helpful and informative and Gregg in particular made the tour even more enjoyable with his "banter" and corny jokes.
The bus ticket was excellent value and the discount vouchers came in very useful as did the free tickets to the City Walking Tour (normally 8 euros) which we did the next day. The walking tour was led by a Spanish lady and she was also very knowledgeable and we learnt alot about the history of Dublin.
No trip to dublin would be complete without the bus and walking tour experience!

“Very convenient and informative, but can be crowded.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 March 2012

We used the Green Hop On Hop Off tour while we were in Dublin. We purchased this as part of the Freedom ticket (that gives you airport transfers and you are able to use the other Dublin buses).

It was interesting and useful, but I wasn't as thrilled with the driver commentary as others. I'm sure that depends on which driver(s) you end up with.

I'd recommend not trying to use it during the last hour or so that it is available. The buses get really crowded...especially if it's raining or if you're getting on at or after the Guinness plant. We had to let one go by, and were lucky to get standing room on the next one.

Also, when we were riding around, we had to go by the Dublin Bus HQ (the end of the route..stop 22). We had to get off the bus and get on another one (stop #1). Then we had to wait for about 20 minutes for that bus to continue. That was a little annoying. (But, that also may have something to do with it being late in the day.)

I'd recommend using this bus tour, but just be aware of the above items.

This tour takes in all the sights of Dublin making regular stops throughout the city. The buses are frequent throughout the day and all the staff are very friendly and helpful.
