Overall, my husband and I were comfortable at this hotel. We stayed for two nights and here is my summary:
Pros: Great value! For two nights, it cost less than a typical one night's stay in a U.S. hotel. The beds were comfortable and the overall space was clean. The pub Darkey Kelly's is just downstairs and is fun, warm, offers delicious food, lively, and given our room was above the pub, I was pleased that the live music went down soon after 10. Also, the room is very spacious for a European hotel!
Areas for improvement: (1) I don't think this is really a ding, but my fellow American travelers, do not expect the same levels of warm hospitality and friendliness that you may expect in the States. The front desk staff were not rude or cold, but just not quite warm. That was fine with me. They were kind and straight forward, but I can see how that can put off some people who value hotel staff to be very warm. (2) The area near the lift (elevator) smells like cleaning supplies or some sort of cleaning smell like when you go to a restaurant and they quickly wipe down a table, leaving the table sticky but clean. (3) I blame this on the warm weather but whew, the hotel room and lobby were so warm!!! I slept in a tank top and shorts the entire time I was there. Even with the heater inside the room turned off, we were very stuffy.
The cons aren't really cons at all, but that was my observation and experience. The area around the hotel is convenient. The 747 airport bus stops are right outside, there are multiple coffee shops, you're within walking distance to wonderful places within Dublin.
