I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the Jeanie Johnstone. The ship is a replica but has actually sailed the same route as the original. It is a beautifully crafted ship (found meself sniffing the mast,I've a bit of a thing for old yachts).
There's not huge amount to see but the joy is in the storytelling and our tour guide Ray was a master or Irish storytelling. It was fascinating, I learned so much.
Below deck the exhibition is very well done and gives you a real flavour of what life must have been like for Iris emigrants travelling by ship. The Jeanie Johnstone is the only ship to have never lost anyone to the clutches of death in all her 16 journeys - a truly laudable record.
Would work for children too, especially older ones.
