“Small, but free and impressive”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 February 2017

For such a small and free museum, the collection is quite impressive. Of course, the main sight is Francis Bacon's studio - it is disgusting, but interesting. But there are also several great artworks by top artists - and a whole lot of Irish art which is probably great if you're into that. If you are in that part of town, it would be silly not to drop by.

“A must for any art enthusiast ”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 February 2017 via mobile

Fantastic art gallery! We discovered this place on our last day and almost by chance, as we had to kill time before going to the airport.

To be honest, we didn't expect much and were greatly surprised with the permanent collection.

Francis Bacon's studio is definitely the highlight but there are fantastic art pieces to be admired here as well.

Allow at least 1 hour for your visit. Admission is free.

“some rare pieces”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 February 2017

The town house is beautiful. It shows few pieces and that's enough to enjoy these without getting tired and I liked most Bacon's small room. This is a truely unique exhibit. And entrance is free.

“Art for free!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 January 2017

Free entrance, but un-payable value guaranteed! I really was surprised that you do not have to pay an admission fee, but get the chance to see some really impressive pieces of art. This gallery definitely deserves your donation!

“Lovely gallery exceptional for its Francis Bacon Studio exhibit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 January 2017

Small for a gallery but well arranged and simple to follow. Good range of work from an important Renoir through to Bacon via Lavery and J B Yeats. The jewel in the crown is Bacon's studio which was bought over from Kensington bit by bit. Free entry but €2 is suggested donation and why wouldn't you. There's a book shop which looks ok and a good size cafe. I love a good gallery not only for the art but the peace and ambiance. If my visit is anything to go by you can expect one or two schools to drop in like a bomb but hey, it's better they learn to appreciate art.
