The town house is beautiful. It shows few pieces and that's enough to enjoy these without getting tired and I liked most Bacon's small room. This is a truely unique exhibit. And entrance is free.

Free entrance, but un-payable value guaranteed! I really was surprised that you do not have to pay an admission fee, but get the chance to see some really impressive pieces of art. This gallery definitely deserves your donation!

Small for a gallery but well arranged and simple to follow. Good range of work from an important Renoir through to Bacon via Lavery and J B Yeats. The jewel in the crown is Bacon's studio which was bought over from Kensington bit by bit. Free entry but €2 is suggested donation and why wouldn't you. There's a book shop which looks ok and a good size cafe. I love a good gallery not only for the art but the peace and ambiance. If my visit is anything to go by you can expect one or two schools to drop in like a bomb but hey, it's better they learn to appreciate art.

If you like light airy elegant historic surroundings in which to view good art both old and new without spending hours doing it you will love the Hugh Lane Gallery. There is even a reconstruction of Francis Bacon's studio !
A great find in a busy city and , for my money, better than the National Gallery

This is an art gallery full of promise and awe. Hugh Lane, who died on the Lusitania made sure that this would be Dublin's Premier Art Gallery, he was so right.
